NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that on the 19th day of March,
2013, a special election will be
held at the regular polling places in
all the election districts of Crawford
County at which time there will be
submitted to the qualified voters of
Crawford County for their deter
mination the question of whether
a special sales and use tax for
educational purposes of one per
cent shall continue to be levied,
imposed and collected on all sales
and uses in Crawford County for a
period of time not to exceed twenty
(20) calendar quarters and for the
purpose of raising not more than
$4,500,000 of net proceeds by
said tax, to be used for adding to,
renovating, repairing, improving,
demolishing, furnishing and equip
ping existing school buildings
and other buildings and facilities
useful and desirable in connec
tion therewith, including but not
limited to HVAC, paving, roofing;
system-wide technology, safety
and security improvements; pur
chasing textbooks; acquiring new
school equipment; acquiring new
school buses, maintenance and
transportation vehicles; acquiring,
constructing and equipping new
schools and facilities useful and
desirable, including but not limited
to new physical education/athletic
fields and facilities; landscap
ing; acquiring any necessary or
desirable property, both real and
personal, the maximum amount
of the projects to be paid with
sales and use tax proceeds will be
$4,500,000. The ballots to be used
at such referendum shall have writ
ten or printed thereon substantially

holding said referendum shall be at

precincts of the election districts of

to 7:00 p.m. on the date fixed for
the referendum. All polling places
will be open. Pursuant to Official
Code of Georgia Annotated § 21-
2-224(b) the registration deadline
for this special election shall be at
the close of business on the fifth
Monday prior to the date of the
special election or, if such Monday
is a legal holiday, by the close of
business on the following business
day. The last day to register to vote
in this referendum shall be Febru
ary 19, 2013, through 5:00 p.m.
Mail voter registration applications
must be postmarked on or before
February 19, 2013. This notice
is given pursuant to a resolution
of the Crawford County Board of
Education adopted on November

Public Hearing Notice
Crawford County is considering applying to the Georgia
Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for a
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
of up to $500,000.00. These funds must be used
to primarily benefit low- and moderate-income
persons.
The activities for which these funds may be used
are in the areas of housing, public facilities, and
economic development. More specific details
regarding eligible activities and the estimated
amount of funds proposed to be used for activities
to benefit low- and moderate-income persons
and the rating system will be provided at a public
hearing, which will be held at the Crawford County
Administrative Building at 1011 U.S. 341, Roberta,
Georgia on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at 9:00 a.m.
The purpose of this hearing will be to obtain citizen
input into the development of the application.
Persons with special needs relating to handicapped
accessibility or foreign language shall contact Pat
Kelly at 478-836-3782 prior to March 7. This person
is located at the Crawford County Administrative
Building at 1011 U.S. 341, Roberta, Georgia,
