Enigma, March 10.—MIkh Ixilu Turner, of Aluiiiiim, njieiit revere! days in Kni^nm lftnt week, the gui-Ht of Mixn Miriam Taylor. “Regular" visited Alapalia last Friday. Found the place quiet but Improving, judging from the way the city authorities are grading the Htreets and other improvements being made around town. Thunks to .Mr. .Toe Gay for courtesies extended. While oilier sections seem to lie having light spasms, premonitory of heavy political convulsions, ours, ns Hill Arp would say, “Is calm and serene.” Everybody at work trying to make a living. It. was a loving epistle writ toil, as I suppose, by some fair baud whose owner is a bright-eyed maiden of sixteen summers or thereabouts, with rosy lips, pearly white teeth, iihcll-likc ears, etc.; in fact, a general make up that would Inspire the poet's song. Hot the dear orenl.iirc must 1m mistaken uh to whom she is writ ing, for I Ain't Imagine how such a lovely vision could makeup her mind to love such an old, ugly, gray-lmired loot bless specimen of I he //anus himm as “Hegiilar." Of course I was sur prised and, at. the same lime, elated at receiving miicIi a loving epistle at, my time in life; so i showed the let ter to Airs. Regular and the eight little Regulators, They were pleased and Airs. Regular said she didn't cuv a hit. So now, if my fair admirer nt Stunner will let mo know her full “intltloinnnts” I will be more than pleased mid henceforth would dor respond directly with her. IIoIioiiiIiiii'h Itiiilgot. Johnson owns a very Intelligent horse, and trusts the beast, to a re markable length, and not .without iVii.-oii, for tho colt has been known to sland hitched to tho buggy until the sun shone on liotli sides of him. But, like human kind, the colt lias a weakness. When the whistle blows and the bell rings, he looks out for the engine, and having on blinds, he looked out for himself. A lively scamper of about one hundred and fifty yard* and he deliberately turned to face the foe, which was only a freight engine. Mr. Johnson pic ked up the contents of his buggy like his ideas—and at the time all was quiet in Cecil. Mr. Johnson acknowledged Ills obligations to the horse graceful ly and then went on with talk almut Ids new and novel invention the great git-up-and-git-away machines which he wants to test on a town tip the rood. “Civilized,” of the Vnldosta Times, Is round trying to make up a school.
