DeWitt Talmage struck the key note , when he made the fol lowing applicable utterance: “A sing ing church is always a triumphant church. If a congregation is silent during. thojijaretfies, or partially si- ent, it is the silenco of death. If, when the hymn is given out, you hear the faint Hum of here and there a father and mother in Israel, while the vast majority are silent, that min ister of Christ who is presiding needs to have a very strong constitution if he does not get the dulls. He noods not only the grace of God, but nerves . liko whalebone. It is amazing how some people who have voice enough to discharge, all thd duties in the Wori<I,. whon they come into the house of God havtrno voice to dis charge this duty. I really believe that if the church of Christ could rise up and sing as it ought to sing that where we have a hundred souls in the kingdom of Christ there would be a thousand.” The promptness and certainty of It's cures have made Chamberlain’s Cough llemcdy famous. Wo, the grand jury, for the April term, -1802, of Colquitt superior court, make the foUowing general presentments: We feel that owing to the stringency of the times, trom which we all suffer, that it behooves the authorities to use every effort to lighten the burdens of tbo people, and especially is this necessary now that the state tax is heavier than it has been in several years. Wo, there fore, recommend that the proposed new jail be not built this year, but that the money collected for that purpose heretofore, be, deposited in the Thomasviile national bank on the best terms that can be obtained as to interest, and that for this year only five hundred dollars be collected on account of the new jail and that amount, when collected, be deposited with the first referred to until there money enough on hand to build said jail. We are emphatically op posed to tho building of the jail at this time. We recommend that a bridge be milt across Gum creek on the Nash ville and Isabella road, and one over Bear creek on the Moultrie and Nashville road, and that tho county commissioners look after the bridges generally as to tho repairs. Wo recommend that a new publio road be established to be known as -S the Moultrie and Sylvester road. Wo recommend Joel llartsficld for notary public and ex-officio jus tice of tho peaoe of tho 1482d dis trict G. 51., that S. C. Gregory be appointed notary publio and ex-offi- eie justice of the peace for tho 700th district and that A. G. Massey be appointed notary public and ex-officio juBtioe of the peace for the 1873d district. We have examined tho tax col lector’s books and receipts from tho county and find them all very satis factory, he showing that he has set tled in full with the state and coun ty, and accounted in full for overy cent of taxes at an unusual early day. The county school commissioner sub mitted liis report and we rind it cor- rect and satisfactory. In the interest of economy and to reduce expenses, we recommend that the grand and petit jurors bo paid the suni of one dollar eooh per day for their services. Wo have appointed J. B, Norman, Jr n Write Carlton and Win. Rhodes a committee to examine the books of the various county officers during tho time between this and the next court and that thoy be allowed the sura of one dollar each per day for each day thoy actually servo. We have examined the books of the justices of the. peace and notaries public, so far as the same have been submitted to us and find them all right and"well kept, but we find that some of them have not been as careful about the matter of collect ing costa in criminal cases os they might have been, and we recommend that they be careful to track the law exactly in these oases. We have examined the pension lists sent out from tho exeoutivo de partment and find that ail names en tered thereon are entitled to be there and to draw pensions. We desire to express onr regret at the untimely death of our solicitor- general, John- R. Slater, and to ex tend our sympathy to his family in their bereavement. We recommend that these present ments be published in the Moultrie Banner W. R. Stalmnq, Foreman Ordered that these presentments be published as requested. Auo. H. H/.xhki.l, Judge 8. C. 8. C. The following circular letter will be read with interest and profit by the largo number of wool grower# throughout this section—because it is of special Interest to each of them. Savannah, Ga, Marcli 16, 1802. Dr a a Sm:—As it is custormary with us, upon tho approach of the wool dipping season, wo issue a cir cular announcing our intention to be in tho market, for the purchase of Georgia wool; and nlso to give our ideas relative to the business. For several seasons past there has been a decreasing demand for Geor gia wools, owing iu a large measure to the careless method of preparation for market and tho increasing quan tity of black wool. For these rea sons several manufacturers have al ready stoppod using them and otliors oontcmplato making a change. The complaint is general and we assure you, of Buch a nature, as to seriously menace the demand anoth er season. An energetic and united effort on tho part of all buyers of Georgia wool from farmers, tending toward the eradication of the black (ns well as the old riiu out sheep, with coarse, frowsy and kempy wool) would bo to the advantage not only of tho far mer, but nlso of ail others who han dle theso wools. We would therefore advise yon: 1st. Soc that tho wool free from cots, murrain and trashy wool, as well ns c-otton Hut and seed; and that the baleB are. packed in strong and clean bagging. Tho care thus ox- orciscd in preparation will be well repaid. 2d. Have the blnok separated from the white and packed in separate bales. We cannot buy black wool unless thus separated, then only at a deduction of five cents a pound from the price of the white. 8d. Advise ail growers of wool to kill off all the black sheep instead of tho white, as woll as the old run out He rarrtM nearly everythin:; which ennelltnte a general stock or Dry flood., Notions, deary Groceries, elc.
