THE GAZETTE: TIFTON, <1A., FRIDAY, .MAY 'JO, 185)2. ALL SORTS OF THINGS, FOUND GOING THE ROUNDS OF THE GEORGIA PRESS. FuU,F»nrlM And Newt Item* Lmonlotlly Stated-Something of Interest to Every ClaretU* Header. Wyoming tends two women/to the national repnblicaiu convermon at Minneapolis. They will be very much out of place, buuif/Wioy can stand it, we presume tbrraen can. Mt, Pleasant sub-alliance of Pulas ki county, has adopted a rule by which each member agrees to plant a patch of cotton for the benefit of poor members without homes. They propose to keep this plan up nntil every member of their lodge has a home though it be but a few acres. BLACK-DRAUGHT tea cure* Constipation. “Say you want to know where the dies come from, do you?” “Well, the cyclone makes the house fly, the blacksmith makes tho fire fly, the carpenter makes the saw fly, the driver makes the horse fly, the grocer makes the sand fly, and ■tho hoarder makes the blitter fly.” Tty PLSCK-ORSUOHT *c. .or Ily.|*|>.l«. IIcre'B a rich political item from the Washington (Ga.) Gazette: “A prominent third party man in an ad joining county wrote to a man in this place for a loan of *200 on his crop. The man wrote to him that as the third party was going to raise hell instead of cotton that ho could not lend money on that kind of a crop. Says the Wrightsville Headlight: “Politics arc red hot and still heating. And, by the by, most any Btyle and complexion can be furnished in our glorious old county just at this time. We have democrats, republicans, pro hibition, third party, and last and meanest of all, the half-and-half or policy pattern. Democrats lead them all in the race, however, and will beat 'em to Hie tank, as usual.” WcElREE’9 WIVE OS CABDUI for Weak Nerve.. Five Tilings About a Note. There are five esseutinl elements to the legal validity of a negoti: bio draft note or check. It must lie payable in money—that ;old, silver or greenbacks, possibly so in United States currency; not in any kind of merchandise, thus a note “payable in 100 calves” has been dcoided to be invalid. It must be payable without any contingency or uncertainty. A note promising to pay “*1,000 out of the proceods of oro to he raised and sold from any mine,” is invalid. Hut a particular fund may be designated, as, “I promise to pay out of the es tate of B., deceased.” It must be payable at a certain specified time—a time certain to ar rive. A note payable to A. B. “when ho is tiventy-oue yearn of age” is not good, for he may not live to bo twenty-one, ami so the time is not certain to arrive. But a note payable on demand is held to be good, for demand is in the nature of things certain to be made at sonic time. The oivnei of such a note would not possess com mon sense if lie never demanded pay ment. It must he payable to the order of a certain party therein named, or else payable to bearer Otherwise it is not negotiable, although as a sini pic written contract it is good as lie tween the maker and the person to whom it is payable. But it ts not capable of indorsement unless the words order or hearer appear. Tho amount, payable must he speci fied and certain. A note for *1110 ivitli interest is good, because the in terest can he calculated and thus cer tainly ascertained, but a note reading pay *100 or *200 is not good.— Chautanquan. A minister, annoyed by tobacco chewing, thus spoke to his congrega tion: “Take your quid of tobacco out of your mouth on .entering the house of God, and gently lay it on the outer edge of the sidewalk or on the fence. It will positively be there w when you go out, fora rat won’t take it, a cat won’t take it, a dog won’t take it, neither will a hog, you art certain of your quid when you go af ter it. Not the filthiest vermin on earth would touch it.” B®-V*tNE OF CARDlll, » Tonic for Women, If you want to know what the World thinks of you, you can ciphci it out in the following way: But down in figures the year in w|pcl you were born; to this add 4; then add your ago at your next birthday provided it comes herorc January T otherwise your age at last birthday multiply result by 1,000; from this . dcdqet 081,423; substitute for the tig iircs corrcspoding letters of the al phabet, as A for 1, B for 2, C for I) for 4, etc. The result will give the name by which you are popular ly known. Kranci Marstcn, a Presbyte rian elcrgymanbof Columbus, Ohio, evidently doosim believe that a prav cr should lie a siding of pious plati tildes, lie was invited the other day to open tho session of (be lower houso of the legislature with prayer and this is how he did it: “Remem ber, O Lord, the welfare ot these, thy servants, gathered here in this malstroiu of iniquity, fraud and cor nipt Ion. Thou knowest with what suspicion this legislature is looked on by the people of this great state Lord, deliver us from the brilics, bribers and bribetakers in our midst and keep them from tho ways of temptation which surround them on every hand, and may' their acts be ■ rightcovs and riot corrupt.” m Bgf Killed by a Fall On Friday afternoon Sir. Negroes on the Committee. .Gukkssdoro, Ga., May 1.—The third party gathering at Liberty last Saturday night performed one act which has given them n bluck eye among the voters of Greene. A cam paign or executive committee was appointed by the meeting, the object of it being to wake the ecliocs in that particular bailiwick. Five white men were placed on the committee, and five dusky sons of Ham were ap pointed to servo with them! This action of attempting to come the honey act over the negro and amal gamate him into a political organiza tion with the whites has created con siderable comment and much more disgust, and tho third party has lost nuinv followers bv that one action.
