Cbrii., July H.<— A regular ramble- gram I waa shown'a very flattering let ter yosterday Inviting lion. VV. W. Webb to address tlm citizens of Ir win oonnty July Mb at Irwintdlle in favor of regular democracy. I men tion the fact and the regretful news that he will ho unable to go, being sick, to show how our own Lowndos orator is appreciated in other enuii ties. Mr, Webb should, in sober truth, bo mode Commissioner of Ag riculture. I pledge h|m one vote. lion, II, B> Peeples, of Nashville, visited Cecil yesterday. He is a can didate for the solicitor-generalship of the southern judicial circuit and, con- eminently, in a glass house. Col. S T. Kingabcrry is also a candidate and a foemun worthy of Hon. Hen ry’s stool. But this is a free country pven if moasnrod with a yardstick, and lot the pooplo ruin. I want, to hear from Hon. William A. Harris. What is his postofllce? It Ih about, time for .Sampson to show bis strength. Mr. L. L. Wobb, of llahira, made bis debut into the political arena at Wayoross. Voted for Turner. I had tile pleasure of mooting Mr (X K. Wobb, odllor-in-rliirf of the Adol Nows. Two elements essen tially poison make common salt. So may two names very short s sUDOatw. Woldi-News. I was also near meeting the Hon. John Ilikgin, of Lowndes. Just what John oxpuulu to get for his services as clearing house master for democ racy i have not learned, but I sug gest that (’apt. Turner at leant send )ihn a package of seed. Charlie Pen dleton iif a just man and wns minded to put John away privily, but John' Won’t “put.” So also of the lion. William Henry Snead, who, like Hen Harrison, stands by Ills colors. Oh, politics, for shame I Here is a matter demanding seri ous thought, While our legislature lias lavishly spent the people’s mon ey on education it is a notorious fact tljat the children of the poor white farm laborers; tlm people who really pay the tnxi's, get the least share of the money raised for soittjolpurposes. Colleges, toolinologienl and industrial schools will do well enough for tlm rich, tlm class they are Intended for, but the little bright, freckle faced, barefoot boys and girls who raise and gather tlm money crop of tlm south, cotton, and who, as I said before, really pay tl|« taxes, What has boon done fnr thomV Tlm children of tlm I Ti|ie there is appropriated II or J cents a day for them, but the parent wlm can scarcely feed pnd clothe t|mm and pay tlm rent pannet afford to pay tlm supplement to make tlm teacher’s salary HI cents per diem for each scholar, (Hod save the title for either tnaelmr or pupil,) pud llltlr. burdened wayfarer on life's journey glows tin hardened in heart pgainst tlm so-eallud represent alive men of their common country. To accumulate money so ns to have an pqnal footing with those in power is the chief aim of these children. To this end they ate taught to aeoutnu |nte money, and the desire to pile it. tip rapjdly sears the consoicnce as to what methods they use. Lay up pioncy, it is your best friend, is the jesson taught from infancy. Our snr- jfidKsfiiint tench us the truth of tluv handle the. most 6f it and live at case. How did (.Hoy got it? Popular ig norance r like gan powder in bulk, always dangerous. Georgia lias been undef democratic control 26 years. Wlnt has been done by her legisla tors for the good of these poor’ white children? Literally nothing! Many, very inapy of them are In a condition worse than the slave children were 40 years ago. Not ono dollar more of tlm tax money for higher education until tlm poor bavo an equal chance, should be the cry in the corning can vans for the legislature, by every white voter in Georgia. Vote for no man who is not pledged to withhold these class appropriations of the money wrung from the sweat of these poor children. For this condition of the poor Georgia democracy is re sponsible. Let them hasten to re pair the injury. Poor Liz! How many such arc there to-day in proud, God-favored Georgia, Mr. John M. Graddy, ono of onr oHlccrned farmer friends, had his horse stolen last night. Footprints from Cecil and horse tracks from tlm lot, make it probable that site wns stolen by a nogrn tramp and ridden in the direction of Tifton.
