The believer is Said to be married to Christ. By thin marriage he has met all the claims of tho law. This complete identification of tho believer with Christ, and his boing absolved from all obligations of the law, as a means of salvation, shows what the true, original and scriptural relation oftlio wife is to the hus band. It. is that of complete oneness. ‘They twain shall be one flesh,” was At marriage, the wife was lost in her husband so far as civ il obligations were concerned. Her debts wore sot over to (lie husband's account. She was free and ho be came responsible. It was in him and through him she imiRt act. She could make no valid contract without his consent. Ho was head of tho family. Upon him tho wife was de pendent, to him she looked for pro tcction and support, and loving her as one with himself, it was his sol emn duty to supply her wants and to defend her as lie would his own life It has been the work of modern civilization and human legislation to dissolve this heavon-ioado bond, to destroy tlio unity of mail and wife, and instead of making them one, to con tiiiuo them as two, distinct and sop. aratc. Now, tho wife can hold property in her own right, and bo financially independent of her husband. She can make contracts, set up in busi ness for herself, buy and sell, and, in short, engage ill any.-business tr.v.i actions tho samo as any other man The laws that thus destroys tho true relation between husband ami wife, liavu been the fruitful source of divisions, quarrels, divorce*, and ruined homes. While these results have followed in many casus, but few married wo men have reaped tho benefits confer red upon them by these laws. No wife, who loves her husband, can re sist Ins importunities for help when ho is in trouble. Indeed, she will not wait to bo importuned, hut will of her own accord, come to tho res cue when help is needed. She will sign notes, execute mortgages, find Borne way to evade the will of pru dent fathers, some road around tlio obstacles in the way of making her property subject to her husband 1 needs, if she cannot directly sur mount the in. While some may suf. for at tliu hands of improvident, faithless or drunken husbands, yot, we nre sure that tho sum total of •onjiigal bliss would be greatly aug mented by a return to the bible ba sis of matrimony. No man who ha* any manliness about Wm, who has not been brutal ized by alcohol, or debased by lewd ness, can fail to respond to the love and devotion of a self-sacrificing dependent wife. Her very helpless, ness is her defence. Her very weak ness her strength. Her very depend enco her protection. Tlte experimanl ha* resulted in establishing the fad that the soil in this section is well suited to tobacco culture,—Ft ,Talley Leader, Hirers. Early The thing of most importance at present with tho Georgia Southern road is the developmant of the tobac co industry along that line, a project undertaken by Receiver Sparks and tho road’s officers, aud which gives promise of proving a success. Sir. Smnv. the famous tobacco ■ower of North Carolina, camo to Geo^-ia several months ago, and bile down the Georgia Southern road discovered there an Eldorado for the tobacco grower, now almost forced out of many sections of the country, on account of the high val- nos of land, making il impossible to grow tobacco at a profit. Mr. Snow gave tbo public and the Georgia Southern road the advantag es of his discovery, and the result has been a general experiment in to bacco raising all along the line clip Georgia ' Southern. . The road distributed seed and offered every inducement to planters who oared to try tobacco raising. In this ay over 1450 acres were planted in tobacco between Macon and Valdos ta, including about twenty-five acres it Cyoloncta, the Georgia Southern's experiment farm. Manager Lano reports to tlio Tele graph that tho results have been wonderfully gratifying, in every in stance a fine crop being made. All that now remains to bo done is to cure tho weed, and if this proves sat isfactory, tobacco raising in smith Georgia will ho a great success, and oil will aeo lands go up in value and emigrants flocking to that sec tion from Virginia and North Caro lina.
