Rome lflne Farming in Irwin amf Worth
Counties.
The Sycamore Nows gives tho fol
lowing examples of Irwin county
farming for the present year:
“Mr. John Smith, of Ruby, made
this year on six acres of land 240
bushels of good heavy corn and from
three acres he gathered two heavy
bales of Sea Island or long staple
cotton. This corn and cotton was
was made oil laud that lias been in
constant cultivation for the past fifty
years. Think of it. AViregrass
land, fifty years in cultivation and
yet producing a bale of cotton to 1£
acres and 40 bushels of corn per acre.
We call it good land mixed with
good farming,
“And again, Mr. Rod Smith comes
m for a share of the good farming
honors, as lie made, on five acreB,
285 bushels of corn or 47 bushels
per acre, and the balalioe of his crop,
such as cotton, peas, potatoes, sugar
cane, eto-1 is proportionately good
Rodl is a good farmor.”
