It seems that tho Albany, Boston

And an important meeting was held
in this city Friday.

Wily Not Kulpe Stock?
The farmers of Georgia would do
well to adopt tho method of fanning
which prevails in Texas. A large
proportion of the Texas farmers are
making stock raising an incidental
addition to their farms. They con
tinue to produce cotton and corn and
other products of tho farm, but evyy
practical fanner raises from one to a
dozen horses annually. It has prov
en highly profitable. The Georgia
farmer would find it equally so. But
to raiso a goodJiorsc lie must be fed
in wintor os well as in summer. Our
cotton lands lie idle in winter. Not
so in Texas. A farmer in the Lone
Star state will sow his cotton land in
wheat in the fail after his_cotton has
been picked and upon that ho will
pasture bis stock during the winter.
In tho spring it is plowed up and
planted in ootton, and is nil the bet
ter for a cotton crop.
There is but little laud in Georgia
that will produce wheat in paying
quantities, but wheat planted in the
fall makes the beat winter pasture
and provides stock with fowl that
wiii keep thoui lat all winter at very
small oxpenso.
farmers of Morgan aud-Grcene
e» are perhaps the most pros
perous in the auto. Almost ali of
them raise stock. Why should not
fanners of every county in the

Ia Marriage a Failure?
During the past twenty years 828,-
00Q divorces have been granted by
tho courts of the ITnitod States nine
ty per cent of tliem to women.
While this total is large enough to
appear to give good grounds for tlie
assertion that the perpetuity of tlie
family it dwindles when brought in
to comparison with the number of
marriages during the same period.
One twentieth of the totalis 10,400
tho number granted each year, only
about one per cent of the marriages,
There is notiiing in tlie world that
human beings undertake to do that
uan show so small a percentage of
failure aa marriage. Though statis
tics are not at hand to prove it there
there is doubt if divorpes much ex
ceed golden weddings in number.
They oertamiy do not exceed silver
weddings. Investigation of tho sub
ject of improper marriages would
s«em to offer more hope of result*
beneficial to society than examination
of divorce statistic*.
