Who They Were,
A traveling party, passing through
Tifton last Tluusday morning in
three covered wagons and a carriage,
attracted attention and a little curi
osity.to know who they were and
whither they were going. They were
from the vfijjnily of Atlanta and
were enroute to the Indian River sec
tion of Florida on a limiting and
lishing expedition,‘as well as a tour
of general inspection of the country
through which they travel.
The party consisted of the follow,
ing people: L. M. Johnson, W. B.
Smith, J. H. Henikie, W. E. Smith,
Alice Henikie, Loula Smith, Mary
Smith, Mrs. W. B. Smith, Mrs.Heni
kie, Willie W. .Miller and the dog,
Belle.

for such a trip and the entire party
seemed to be enjoying it immensely,

Judge H. T. Peeples, whose serious
illness was reported incur last weeks
paper, died at his home in Nashville
yesterday at a ripe old age. His lias
been a long and useful life, and he
leaves the world better for his having
lived in it. The impress of ins
God-like walk and conversation lias
been felt for good iu the vicinity of
Nashville wlieie lie has lived for
more than thirty years. He was
native of Georgia.
He leaves four sons (Henry B., J
Edwin, Logan U. and Benjamin I’
and two daughters (.Mrs. Dr. H. M,
Tally, of Valdosta, aud Miss Mackey)
to mourn his demise. The eldest,
Henry 1L is the cfficent Boiicitor-
Generul of the Southern Judicial
Circuit. His wife, a moat noble
hearted, Christum woman, preceded
him to the heaveuly land more than
a year ago.
He has gone to occupy ihe man
smn which the Savior has prepared
for him and, verily t his work of churl
ty and goodness do follow him. The
people of Nashville, old and young,
honored and revered him as a father
in Israel.

Rev. J. M. Champion lias accepted
the pastorate of Sylvester Baptist
church. He is a veteran worker in
the Lord's Worth county vineyard.
Colquitt county, by primary elec
tion, nominated Rev. A. D. Patterson,
of Moultrie, to be judge of the conn
ty court and lie has just received his
commission.
There have been more prospectors
hunting homes in Wortli county this
fall than over before, and many have
bought lands and will becoms citi

Two white men, Elam Lott and
Hiram Smith, have been arrested and
lodged in jail charged with arson an
the burning of Mr. B. Peterson’s sta
bles at Dougins, Coffee county.
Postmaster Evans, at Asliburn, lias
set an example in the arrangement of
his office that many others would do
well to follow. Ilis office would be
creditable to a much larger place.
An aged lady, Mrs. Shields, died
at the home of Dr. J. F. Wilson, at
Poulun. where she had been visiting
for some time, on Tuesday, of last
week. Her remains were buried the
next day in the Poulun cemetery.
The Sycamore News rises and re
murks that “there is scarcely a man
in the vicinity of that town that Ims
not made corn and meat enougli to
do him twelve mouths.” That's good
and a never-failing evidence of pros
perity.

Mr. J. C. Rogers, one of Worth
county’s prominent farmers, tells the
