The editor regrets that indisposi

ever, he is gratified to learn that the

A man by the name of O’Brien,
from Atlanta was in the city the first

will probably, still hunt, through
Berrien a little later.
Nearly every farm in the vicinity
of Tifton has a few acres in English
pens, beans or tomatoes, for the can
ning factory. The money realized
from these truck patches conies in a
time when it is needed by the farm-,
ers, and while the price isiipptiuraiit-
ly low, the ability to raise two or three
crops on the same ground each year,
makes the truck crop a profitable one,
when a canning factory insures a
market.—Local.

The people along the line of the
Brunswick and Western railroad have
been justly indignant ever since the
mail trains, Nos. 1 and tl, were dis
placed, and a one mail a day service
inaugurated in its stead. We learn
loo. thut their indignation is likely
to result in good, even the putting
back of trains t and 2. This is mere
rumor, but we arc satisfied the rail
road management cannot afford to
maintain the present service on their
line much longer without yltat dis
aster to tiieir busiuess, mid that much

time to furnish the senator, accord
ing to the rotation system, wo sec no

A well known young gentleman of
Sparks, who is frequently called to
Nashville on business, lias tlie laugh
on two young Sparkites—his intimate
friends. It was current that while
attending business nt Nashville lie
had paid court ami engaged himself
to u popular young lady of that town.
His friends worried him considera
bly inquiring about the marriage,
when it would take place, etc., so lie
wrote them an invitation to a wed

young men hit; they hired the most
stylish turnout Sparks could afford

attempt to kill a negro preacher, by
tlie name of iTorbes, the latter got

The convention of tlie Twenty-
seventh District Sunday-school Asso
ciation, recently held at Valdosta,
adjourned to hold its next, session in
Adel. Thu Gazette is glad, not
withstanding the citizens of Tifton
in mass meeting adopted a resolution
inviting the convention to meet in
their city next time, that our sister
county-town succeeded in securing 1
the next convention.. The people of
Tifton are not selfish or begrudging;
they feel mortified that their dele
gates failed to deliver their invitation
to the convention, lull place tlie
blame where it properly belongs. Let
every community in llerri"ti county
—Cecil, Sparks, Lenox,'Tifton, Brook
field, Enigma, Alupalm, Milltown,
Nashville and Hay’s Mill, join hands
with Adel in making it a grand suc
cess. It is Adel’s convention, also
Berrien county’s convention, and its
success or failure will reflect credit
or discredit (as the case may be) up
on Berrien county as well us Adel.
Of,course we do not. nnlicipnle a fail
ure, but we just throw out. these sug
gestion of fact tliut tlie people, the
Sunday-school workers of Berrien
county, imiv properly relied over the
matter. Tifton is us iiiudli interested
in the successor the convention as
she would lie if her invitation laid
been accepted and the session held in
one of her churches, and it is so
with every, other community in the
county.

It stnkes us that “Damon,” in
