By appointment from the demo

Hon. A. 0. Bacon will speak to the
people assembled lit Tifton on Sep
tember 6th, on the occasion uf the
grand democratic rally and barbecue.
Hon. Ben E. Russell has written
tlie Gazette that, his presence at the
rally depended upon the adjourn
ment of congress, as he feels it his
duty to remain in Washington until
after adjournment. It is practically
understood that congress will adjourn
in the next few days—perhaps to
morrow—so we think we can confi
dently state that both lie and Hon.
II. G. Turner will be here and give
an account of their stewardships.
The Gazette has it from the
highest authority—Mis. W. Y. At
kinson—that the next governor of
Georgia will lend his presence and
voice to tlie rally, lie greatly desires
that the people of Berrien und sur
rounding counties shall avail them
selves of the opportanity which the
barbecue and rally affords to hear
him, as he will he able to make but
