Were we asked today what non-
sectarian institution is doing most for
the youth of the Southern States we
might point with truth and pride to
the Georgia-Alabama Business Col
lege of tins city.
Some months past they gave a life
scholarship to a worthy girl or boy in
each county of this and several adja
cent states, and within the past thirty
days they have placed more than a
dozen graduates with banks, whole
sale and manufacturing establish
ments and as teachers in Florida,
North and South Carolina, Illinois
and Georgia; and.were unable to fill
three places offered at $85, ,$40 and
$75, respectively.
A diploma from any one of their
six departments is an open sesame to
the best positions everywhere; for the
thorough competency, as well as sat
isfaction, of graduates-is guaranteed
in every instant.
Their constant improvements and
the increased attractiveness of Macon
by reason of the holding of the great
Inter-State Fair which will be attend
ed by President Cleveland and cabi
net, will give the college a larger at
tendance this fall than ever before in
all Iter glorious history.—Macon (Ga.)

Savannah is the largest naval stores
shipping point in the world and the
second largest cotton shipping point.
Georgia loads all tho states in the
Union in the production of naval
stores, tho product of 18110 being val
ued at $4,250,000. The production
of cottan increased from 800,00(1 bales
in 1880 to 1,101,000 bales in 1800.
Her corn crop is estimated at 80,000,-
000 bushels annually.
The cotton manutacluriiig product
in Georgia increased from $0,000,000
ill 188(1 to $12,000,000 in 1800. The
number <f spindles increased from
180,000 in 1880, to 445,000 in 1800.
The timber product 1880 was worth
$5,000,000; in 1800 it brought $0,HOO
DOO.
In 1880 Geotgia had 2,482 miles
of railroad; in 1890 she had 4,557—
an increase in railroad building of
nearly 100 per cent, in ten years.
Between tho two last censuses the
product of chemical fertilizers in
Georgia increased from $804,000 to
lf5,000,000.
The growth of chickens increased
between 1880 and 1890 from 2,000,-
000 to 7,000,000, and that eggs in
creased from 7,000,000 dozens to I I,-

pounds in 1880 to 14,000,000 pounds
in 1890.

400 farms containing over 1,000 acres
each. In the ten stieeeeding years
this number decreased to 2,700,while
the number of farms under fifty acres
increased from 48,(U)ii ta 70,000.
In the face of these figures, taken
from the record and the correctness
of which cannot he disputed, how any
citizen who desires the continued
progress and prosperity of his state
can vote against the democratic ad
ministration of affairs which has
brought about this favorable condition
is beyouc our comprehension.
Reader, keep these figures in your
mind when you go to the polls next
Wednesday to vole, and may God
help you to east your ballot in the
best interest of grand old Georgia.
