A special from Dougins, Coffee
county, January 14th, to the Atlanta
Journal says:
“News Ins just reached here of a
serious difficulty between two fami
lies, the Rhymes’ and Huberts, who
live about two or three miles from
till* place.
“It seems that bad feeling* bad
existed between tile members of these,
families for some time, caused by a
lawsuit in which they are engaged.
“On Friday afternoon, the female
portion of the Rhymes family decided,
according to the reports received
here, to submit their cases to the arbi.
trament of force and arms. Upon
the occasion in question, Mrs. Nancy
Rhymes and her two daughters, Mar
tha and Addin, met Airs. Roberts
and her daughters, Nancy, Jane and
Kiuinii, on tlio road. It is said that
the former proceeded to attack the
Roberts’ with their lists and also with
sticks, and that during tlio engage
ment Martha Rhymes drew a knife
and succeeded in inflicting serious, if
not fatal, wounds upon the llirao
Roberts girls, stabbing them in sev
eral places, The sheriff and a doc
tor were sent for at once, and the
Rhymes will bo arrested upon the
charge of assault with intent to mur
der.
“The true condition of the wounded
girl* has not yet been Ascertained.”
Tlio movement Mint is sweeping

the cotton crop and diversifying

deal to Georgia. When farmers be

cotton only as a surplus crop, they
will cure less about politics, times
will lie u great deal brighter and life
will lie sweoler to them.— Kx.
