Mrs. O. M. Tift I. visiting her parent,
and other relatives and friend. In Bran-
.wick this week.
Live within yoar mean, young men of
Tlfton. When you get outside of your
indomp you will suffer. .
Vegetable, are in great demand in Tif-
ton. The recant freeze destroyed all
garden "gas." in this vicinity.
A homely philosopher says: “One of
the two' things ard true.* We either give
according to our means or according to
our meanness.”
Tlfton gardeners have commenced plan
ting and soon their tables will be snpplied
with raddlshes, lettuce, garden peas, on,
ions, turnips, etc.
The Gazette Is pleased to learn that
Mrs. W. T. Hargrott has recovered her
lost watch. Advertising did tlie work,
It pays to advertise.
Tlfton stands ready at all times to en
courage, in every way possible, the loca
tion of mamimacluring enterprises in her
midBt. Her people knows that it pays to
do so.
Miss Susie Crampler, well and favora
bly known in Tlfton as the accomplished
daughter of Rev, V. H. Grumpier, is
teaching a music class at Johnston Sta
tion, Ga.
The man who would throw any obstacle
in the way of the progress of Tlfton In
stitute Iff Blinding in his own light. We
muBt stand as a unit for its welfare, If we
ever expect to have it succeed.
The Gazktte learns that a brick cotton
warehouse, a much neoeded desideratum
Is to be built In Tlfton before next'senson
By all means encourage its building; It
would surely prove a paying investment,
. BidhS Rbptor says, and it Is doubtless
true, that two W three interesting wed
dings will be consummated in and about
Tlfton in the near' future. Don’t every
body go to guessing who will be the high
con t reeling parties.
Take good care of the babies. They
will be women and men after a while. It
made the editors, flesh quiver to see, a few
days since, a colored nurse In Tlfton itnnd
hard by and watch, seemingly unconcern,
ed, a six-months old babe play with a la
dies’ hat pin, fully six inches in length,
•An unlucky stroke of that pin would
have maimed that body for lifo If It did
not kill it.
Mrs. Emily Thorne, who resides at
Toledo, Washington, says she has never
been able to procure any medicine fo,r
rheumatism that relieves the pain quick
ly and effectually as Chamberlain's Pain
Balm and that she has also used It for
lame back with great success. For sale
by Tlfton Drug Store.
WILL THE ROAD SELL?.,
Opposition to Reorganisation of tlio Geor
gia Southern and Florida.
Nobody In this section his seemed to
doubt that the Georgia Southern railroad
would he sold on the finst Tuesday In
March, and the commissioners appointed
to make the sole have apparently been
certain that no opposition would be raised
but yesterday Simon Danxlng tiled a suit
In the circuit court of New Vork, which
seems to give the situation a new aspect
Mr. Danxlng brings tbe action through
his attorneys, Messrs. Marshall. Harbury
bury ft Bowdoln, against the reorganiza
tion commlttco of the Georgia Southern
and Florida railroad and the Baltimore
Mercantile Trust and Deposit Company.
The trnit company Is the depository of
the bonds and the pooling agreement. The
action seeks to withdraw the bonda and
to declare tlie pooling agreement null and
void. It also seeks to restrain the rcor-
ganlzatlen committee from parrying out
its proposed plan. It is claimed that the
plkn illegal hi that it Intendstodixtrlkute
to unsecured creditors a large portion of
the common and preferred stock of the
reorganized company.
In bringing bis suit, Mr. Danzingclaims
to represent the sentiment andlntehttonn
v of a hklf, million hollars of the bokds.
Thlf will bo a tost case, and possibly' the
beginning of a warm legal fight.'
The Georgia Southern system covers
sheet 88S miles and Is a most Important
link in the Southern system. The suit
will very likely determine the future
