The postal route from Tifton to
Obe, Colquitt county, ims been estab
lished, and now advertisement will lie
made for carrying the mail on the
route twice a week. The intervening

From a list of eighteen applicants
for teaohers, license in Colquitt coun
ty only seven passed the examination,
and none of these received first grade
license. Two received second and
five third grade license. Only one of
tiie lady applicants passed.
Tl(nt Orange Grove.
Considerable inquiry has been made
from Pennsylvania and other states
relative to the sticcesss of the Tifton
orange grove. As wub stated last
spring tiie grove consisted of forty
year old trees, now two years old.
Notwithstanding the freeze of
Maroh 28, 1894, they put out a heavy
crop of blossoms, but it was thought
best to pinch them oil except about
two to four of the healthiest looking
to the tree. These blossoms developed
iutp fruit.aud nearly all of them were
carried to maturity, and Mr. Tift ate
fruit from the trees the same year of
transplanting.
The freeze of the present winter has
nipped the tenderest shoots, but it is
thought tho trees are not materially
injured. The branches killed by the
cold weather would have been pruned
away anyhow.

father-in-law, Mr. Aaron Rhodes, will

Tliat Mr. T. M. Greene lias pur
chased the lot on the northwest cor
ner of Central avenue ami Sixth
street, und will commence to improve
it at once, He will first enclose it
witli a neat fence and afterwurds,
perhaps in the latter part of the sum
mer, build u handsome residence on it.
That Mr. George' II. Pudrick has
bought the lloldane lot, northeast
corner of Sixth street aud Ridge ave
nue, and bus already! commenced to
clear tlio trees and stumps away for
a handsome new residence.
That Mr. Holduno will commence
building an elegant residence on Love
avenue, on the hill beyond the branch,
as soon us the extension is made, und
the lots located. The surveyor was
expected to oomnieuoe tho work this
week.
Dr. Wm. Harrell, of Staunton, was
in the city trading yesterday.
