The wife of Mr. Gee. W. Sheppard,
of Dooly county, died on Saturday
last, leaving a sorrowing husband and
large family of children to mourn her
loss. Her husband is the oldest
brother of Mr. O F. Sheppard, of
Tifton.
A refractory mule ran away with
Mr. J. A. Pool last Sunday morning,
throwing him and a young lady from
the buggy and badly damaging tbe
vehicle. Both he and his companion
received severe bruises, but no inju
ries of a serious nature.

The “March excursion of ltomc-
seekers from the North uud West was
composed of gentlemen from Wiscon
sin, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio and
Tennessee. They express themselves
pleased with this section and their
coming has resulted in several real
estate transfers.

The eclipse of the moon Sunday
night wus witnessed by quite a num
ber of Tiftonians. It began at eight,
was total at ten and ended at twelve
o’clock. Observation was partially
obstructed by flecks of cloud passing
between the observer and the moon.

School Commissioner Kirkland, of
Coffee county, was in the city on

teachers’ institute, beginning June
10th, is very gratifying to that gen

the people of Tifton; they are alwajB

quired of them for the general welfare
unit upbuilding of not only Berrien
county but all this favored southern
section of Georgia They are not en
vious—feeling assured that they will
share in the general prosperity result

Friday night, was a success, both so
cially and financially. Cream, cake
