Who of our Enigma folks are go
ing to have exhibits at Tifton’s Mid-
Summer-Fair ? It’s only a little over
a month ’till the fair will be on. Otir
poople should remember this, and
our section of good old Berrien comi
ty should be well represented. The
farm lands in the neighborhood of
Enigma are second to none in South
Georgia, und our farmers should be
just ns progressive as those of any
section. It will only cost a little time
and labor to get up an exhibit, and I
am sure the people of this communi
ty can get up one that will compare
favorably, with those from anv other
part of South Georgia. Rally,friends;
coma to the front, mid lets show to
the rest of the world what we are
doing down here.

Exittn to comfort and cheer them,

elevate our own population than to
aid others who make a laughing stock
of ns and our manners to root us out.
I favor immigration as much us
any reasonable mau ought to; but the
question ought to present itself to
our minds: What will become of ns
when onr homes are squandered?
Shull we, like the Indians, be driven
before the face of these immigrants;
a wandering set of vagabonds; or
shall wc sell only a surplus, und re
tain our homes ?
I have over contended that we have
the brain here to make a great people.
If so, it is time wc put it to some use.
Let U3 strive to evolve a people from
our present stock who can and will
maintain a good position as compared
with the highly esteemed foreigner.
Berrien, not merely a militia dis
trict, possesses many advantages to
those seeking an honest living. Let
us, ns good citizens, do all in our
power to reap the fruits of our Goil-
fuvored country, and see that we do
not fool away our birthright,
I am not opposed to Mr. Sineath
getting all the immigrants he wants,
but what is to become of the present
inhabitants? Does he look for a
better citizenship ? It will, after all,
be hard to find.
We have no good citizen to spare,
but may bo able to divide land.
