THE GAZETTE: TIFTON, GA., FRIDAY, JUNE 14, 180/5.
A NEW SWINDLE
which the people of the South
are resenting, is the efforts of
some to sell them imitations for
the real Simmons Liver Regu
lator, because they make mors
money by the imitation; and
they care little that they swindle
the people in selling them an
inferior article. It’s the money
thev are after, and the people can
look out for themselves. Now
this is just what the peoplo are
doing, and merchants are having
a hard time trying to get people
to take the stuff they offer them
in place of Simmons Liver Reg
ulator—which is the “King of
Liver Medicines,” because it never
fails to give relief in all liver
troubles. Be sure that you get
Simmous Liver Regulator. You
know it by the same
old stamp tMtalSfcKp of the Red
Z on the H YtjrijjSr package.
It has EASaTirn never fail
ed you, and people
who have been per
suaded to take something else have
always come back again to The
Old Friend. Better not take any
thing else but that made by J. H.
Zeilin & Co., Philadelphia.

Thai llrurgla, of all the southern states
Is now attracting the moat favorable in
tention, couuia for something more tlmti
a mere |>asslrfj: compliment.
That she is rapidly becoming foremost
in the line of I nick gardening; that she iB
the chief early fruit center; that she com
prises the great melon belt; that she is
shipping corn anil cattle lo the west;
that her cotlon mills are making the lar
gest dividends—tiro all incidental in the
make up of a section attractive to the
seekers after new homes goes without
saying.
The concentration of 1 lie public mind
to Georgia lias been shown by the num
ber of conventions held in hen capital
City this season.
That her immense opportunities of
profitable development nre already recog
nixed are Impressed by the general coin-
nixallon of her lands. This Is the reality
of all that lias been said in behalf of the
state.
It is here that we must study our du
ties ns citizens striving to highest achlev-
melits.
Georgia Is being fairly advertised, and
that is a good tiling; but what Georgia
most needs is eomuibnity orgnnixution,
placing each county in touch with the
leaders of colony societies, the plan
through which lire great work of immi
gration is to be accomplished, bodies of
laud must be secured to the control of
some authority to net in the matter of
p'ans ami sale. The merchant who would
advertise ids house and then close its
doors would be considered a fool.
The community that advertises its ad
vantages and pleads for now citizenship
without a reliable means of dealing with
them, is throwing away a golden oppor
tunity.
Organixe colony plans, secure locations,
advertise, and the people will come.

Tito Heavens For .Tune.
Every planet of the solar -.cm which
i« cicr visible to the tiakwl eve may now
lie keen at dark if one only knows just
where to look. Every one of the planets
including the earth, ia on the >nme i-lde of
the sun—a circumstance which is unite
rare in celestial movements.
The planet Mercury will attain il«
greatest elongation ou the 4th, and for
several days before and after this time
tills shy planet may be seen as a star of
the first magnitude low down in the west
at dark about one hour and forty minutes
behind the sun and almost directly in the
truck. On the 7th Mercury will pass
within one degree of the planet Jupiter,
(lie conjunct ion will be a beautiful one anil
easily seen with the unaided eye at dark.
Venus is the most brilliant star in the
western sky at lids time, and as her mo
linn is now almost directly toward us her
brilliancy will continue to incrcaso for
several weeks. Tills planet now looks
like a half-muon in the telescope. Venus
will continue to risk higher In the west
every evening Till July 11th, then It will
appear to approach the sun again. Just
above Venus may be seen a red star much
smaller than Venus nppenramly, ns in
deed it is much moro distant. Tills is the
planet -Mars. We are leaving Mars far
behind in our swifter flight, and soon
he wfll be Inst in the dnxxling rays of the
sun. On the fit It Venus and Mars will lie
in one degree of each other.
Below Venus the planet Jupiter mny he
seen shining with a brilliancy scarcely
less than that of Venus horselft but some
what obscured by tbu desert atmosphere
near the horizon. So, in the same iptur-
tor of the sky may lie seen Mercury, Ve
nus, Mars and Jupiter at tho same time.
Added tn the rare picture tho moon will,
on the evening of the ifilli pass within a
distant of its own apartment diameter of
the brilliant Venus. The sparkling gem,
hanging almost upon the crescent of the
new-moon, will form a pretty picture
In the evening sky.
In the cast about midway to the merid
ian Saturn shines with a steady white
light. Ills the largest star (a that part
of the heavens and may thus ho easily
recognixed. The largo star further
towards the meridian is Splea In Virgo.
Saturn is inn fine position for observa
tion now; and a telescope of moderate
power will easily reveal its rings now
well opened to view, and besides one or
more of its eight moons. Below Saturn
near the star Alpha Librae the planet
Uranus is situated, lint its great distance
from us renders it barely visible to tho
naked eye. Neptune Is nearly on the op
posite side of the sun from us and lienee

Tho most encouraging reports come

early potatoes are being dug, and shipped
to the North tit very satisfactory prices.
Such is the demand for these potatoes
that very few of them get as fur Nortii

Peaches are beginning to show the
blush of ripeness, anil the melons arc lin

vanced and the prospect for grapes was
never hotter.

of crops, in the Mur.li, those who have
