trial in San Francisco, should pre
sent a very forcible lesson to our
young people and especially to onr
girls. The manner in which some
of our young ladies will receive the
attentions of a young man, before
even they know anything about his
character, reputation or standing in
society, is, to say the least, very im
prudent.
Eyery young lady has a perfect
right, when approached by a young
man, if she does not already know
his pedigree, to demand it, and to find
out, by every fair means, whether or
not he has proven himself, by his
past life or character, worthy of a
virtuous woman’s company.
