the question that is agitating the anx
ious minds of our people is who will
be the jiersori that will have the
moulding of the young and pliant
minds of our children ?
And well can they be anxious, for
if there is anything they should be
anxious about, it is this one thing.
Few people realize the responsibility
that rests upon the pedagogue and,
consequently, much carelessness is
displayed in the matter of selecting
teachers. Very often the matter of

The Daddy Melon.
I3y Tuesday’s train, the Gazette
office received a melon from Enigma,
with the compliments of Weston &
Gunn, which tipped the beam at 78
pounds. Tt measured four feet, one
inch in circumference one way, and
four feet, ten inches the other, and
was, truly, a giant of its species. It
was placed on exhibition on Main
street, and attracted a lot of atten-
