Waldrop’s Railway Switch Frog.
It is not generally known that
Capt. R. T. Waldrep, the genial sup
ervisor for the G. S. & F. at this
place, is the inventor and patentee of
. . , . i an invention that promises to be u
„,. ., „ . J ilife and time saver to this railway
age. It is a switch frog, of which
the cut above gives a fair idea, both
Tifton in the near future.
Dr. Nichols Peterson returned
from kis short vacation in Alabama,
with his countenance all wreathed in
smiles. That must be a country
where every prospect pleases, and
where dull care is swallowed up in
youth’s young and blissful dream.
Padrick Bros, are closing out goods
every day that are great values. U
should get your share.
Prof. L. VV. Caffey, of Atlanta,
opened school at the Institute Mon
day morning, with a fair attendance,
considering the short notice given.
He comes well recommended as a
principal, and we hope will bring
the Institute to the front among the
in construction and utility.
Its principal and greatest advant
age is that by its use the main line
rail remains unbroken, which no
other switch frog renders possible.
The following are among the advant
ages claimed by the iuventor.
1st. It is much cheaper than any
other frog.
2nd. It has no equal for durabili
ty, as main line trains never touch a
frog; it is in use only when on a
siding.
3rd. It has no equal for safety;
there is no jolt in passing over it, as
in others, as the main line is unbrok-
! en and undisturbed at all times

which all the frogs are dependent, as
they are dangerous the moment the
guide rail is misplaced.

the track, without m any way dis

Oth. It has no connection with
main line rail whatever, therefore the

dislocate the joint.
7th. There is no splitting of the
frog, or takihg the wrong side of
tongue, as it has none.
8th. It is absolutely safe and
wears longer than any other. Capt.
Waldrep lias had one of these frogs
in successful operation at Cordele for
several months, and it has given en
tire satisfaction. Not only because
it is a Tifton enterprise, but because
the energetic inventor and patentee
deserves it, and because the success
ful use of his invention is calculated
to make an untold saving of life and
property. The Gazette wishes the
enterprise may be pushed to fruition.
