The Cyclontta farm was sold at
receiver’s sale on Tuesday of last
week for $8,300, and sixty town lots
in Sycamore brought , $S0. It is
thought the sale will not be con

The school commissioners for Dooly
have laid off their schools into dis
tricts, and systematized the work for
the year. There are thirty-three
white and twenty colored schools in
the county.
The Valdosta Times says that a
strong solution of alum water is

At an apron party in Ashburf,
Smith won the prize by hemming
bis girl’s apron in thirteen minutes,
and got a bar of soap. The other
boys forgot that Smith was a country
editor, and had been patching pants
and needing soap for thirteen years,
and it was no race at all.
It is reported that Editor Smith

T. F, Brookens, Bection master for

were carried to Leary, Calhoun couu-

David Rogers, a soil of J. J.
Rogers a young man about 22 yerrs
old, was killed in the upper part of
Brooks county Friday.. Rogers was
assisting his father about his saw
mill when liis clothing caught in the
shafting. He was hurled round and
round by the maehenery and literaly
pounded to death. Not a shred of
clothing was left upon his body.

“holiness” movement, and they hold
services in a country schoolhouse a
few miles from Ty Ty. Mr. White
ordained^Mr. Waters and Mi. Waters
ordained Mr. White. Then they
went to Whiddon’g mill pond and
baptized, by emersion, those who had
joined their “camp.” Their follow
ers are drawn principally from the.
Methodist and Bhptist denominations,
and they propose to have a church
goverment i.iiat is" purely congrega

Miss Thompson, of Cordele, is on
a visit to relatives near this place.
Mr. Ben Ellington is building a
residence near the station.
Mr. George Ellington and Miss
Mattie LeSeuer were married during
the holidays. They think of residing
at Ruby.
, Miss Cockrell spent the holidays ‘
with her parents at Inalin.
Magnus Milner has been on a visit
to bis parents. Ho returned to Bir
mingham, Ala., last Monday morning.
Mr. McCook and sister, Miss Mat-
tic, have been qn a visit to Mr. Will
LeSeuer.
Mr. and Mrs. Polk Milner gave
the Sabbath school a very pleasant
surprise Friday niglit, Deo. 27. At
their residence, they were treated to
a delightful supper. I learned that
all who attended enjoyed the occa
sion very much.
Tho society at Ruby is very much
improved by tho addition of Mr.
Genunill’M family, and also Mrs. Gas-
