Finance committee reported on ac
tion toward employing city scavenger,
since last meeting. After consider
ing ur.d discussing the matter, in
council, it was moved and carried
that the city purchase a good mule
and cart, to be used on street and
scavenger work, und that J. A. Phil
lips be appointed ns a committee of
one to muke said investment.
The following special lax ordinance
introduced and ordered to take effect
from date, in terms of the city code.

TEN DOLLARS FOR A NAME.
The Georgia Southern & Florida Ry.,
in addition to their famous Pullman
Buffet trains, "Quick Step” and “Dixie
Flyer,”havc inaugurated the fastest Pult-
man line in (he South between Macon
and Tampa, the route being Georgia
Southern & Florida to Jasper and Plant
systen to Tampa, leaving Macon dally at
11:28 p. m., arriving in Tampa 2:80 p. m.
next afternoon; returning, leave Tampa
10:15 a. m., arriving In Macon at 4 a. m
As the names of its two Jacksonville
Pullman trains have become household
words, it desires to christen its new
route with a name that will be as appro
priate and popular as.its two sisters. Mr.
G. A. Macdonald, General Passenger
Agent, Macon, lias therefore offered a
prize of ten dollrrs in gold for the most
appropriate name, hearing in mind that
the train passes the famous Suwanee
River by daylight. All that is necessary
Is to send in lids clipping, giving name
of faper and date, together with the
name and address of one or more per
sons who expect to visit Florida this
