Another unjust reference was to
the attack on the administration,
when no such attack had been made.
Another was the statement that
Mr. Hammond had been defending
democratic principles a few years
ago, with Mr, Griggs as his opponent,
when the two had only met as repre
sentatives of rival candidates for a
democratic nomination, before a dem-

President Isaac Lewis ot Sabina, Ohio,
Is highly respected all through, that

75 years, and has been president of
the Sabina Bank 20 years. He gladly
testifies to the merit of Hood's Sarsa

Hood’s Sarsaparilla peculiarly adapted
to their needs. It makes pure, rich,
red blood, and from this comes nerve,
mental, bodily and digestive strength.

a most powerful ore, from a free sil

at no time did lie abuse or ridiculo

differing in opinion from the admin

of those at its head, and when men

most patriotic manner. It was the
speech and argument, of a man pos
sessing the courago of his convic

tened to it with great attention.
There had been no arrangement
for a joint debate, and no notice giv

the effect of Judge Griggs’ argument
became apparent, Hon. W. M. Ham

Promoted.
Mr Wm. Touchton, agent of the
Plant System at Pearson, has been
promoted to the agency at Tifton,
and lias already entered upon his
duties at that place. This is one of
the most deserved compliments the
Plant System could have pronouced;
for there is not a man in the realm
of onr knowledge who has been
more faithful in a postive adherence
to duty than has Mr. Touchton. lie
certainly is a man of strict business
principle without any deviation, and
yet, unlike many others of this char
acter who are hash in its enforcement
lie is gentle and courteous withal.
Pearson people regret to lose him
and his family hut they all rejoice in
his promotion.-— Dougina Breeze.

a hard day ot physical and mental labor.
I took many remedies, but found help only
in Hood’s Barsaparllla which cured mo ot

my bowels regular, and like the pills

was greater than I was prepared for.
The speech of Mr. (iriggs was that
of a man, arguing a question of diff
erence with Ids equals; Mr. Ham
mond, Unit of a stump debater, re
sorting to well-known tricks to catch
his audience, and playing upon their
emotions instead of their reason. For
logic he substituted ridicule; for ar

Instead of arguing for bimetallism,
his speech was on the lino of a single
standard, and on the liasis that there
was sufficient money of final payment,
and no need for change in coinage
laws.
Possibly tho most unfair part of
his speech was his reference to bis
opponent’s comments on a trip to
New York as a plagiarism from Ben
