elaborately discussed, and ordered
passed by a unanimous vote of mem
bers of Council present*
An ordinance authorizing the doting of Love
Avenue at the present Kauraad croMlag on *ald
Avenue, and the extension of Main street from
First to Becond etreet* In the City of Tifton.
Whereon, the Railroad Companies owning
Railroad line* entering the City of Tifton pro
ne ho to erect a passenger station, and aleo a
bridge over the Railroad excavation, between
I/ive and Central Avenue* in *ald city, on con
dition that the *ald City authorize the pla

Be It further ordained that on condition that
If. If. Tift donate to the City of Tifton. the land*
necessary for the said extension of Main street,
that the Mayor and Council of the City of Tifton
make to the said 11. If. Tift, a deed In fee simple
to all that part of what Is now Main street lying
between the main line of the IS. & W. railroad
and First street In said City.

in Berrien county, and backs up this
statement by an offer of $100 for ev
idence to the contrary.
Tho Gazette’s congressional posi
tion is not without first,-class prece
dent, we refor to the Macon Telegraph
in ’04, and to the Macon Evening
News’ and Americas Ilerald’s pres-

sup, of Tifton, was elected one of
the trustees of Mercer University.
The last of tho Smith-Crisp debates
closed with ope in Albany last Fri
day, and both gentlemen left Tues
day for Washington. Unprejudi
ced parties who heard the Albany
speeches say the advantages were de
cidedly with Mr, Smith, I10 net only
having the argument on his side, but
being in much better physical condi
tion tlum bis antagonist.
The Valdosta Times gives two col
umns of its plentiful space to Walters'
attack on Griggs, but carefully re
frains from publishing any of Griggs’
reply. Can it be possible tlmt our
