Pursuant to a call of the chair
man, the Democratic executive com
mittee of Berrien county met at the
court house at Nashville Saturday,
9th.
Only three districts—Tifton, Up
per Tenth and Itiver Bend—were not
represented.
The committee called for a mass
meeting to be held at the court house
at Nashville on the flth of June to
elect delegates to the gubernatorial
convention to be held in Macon on
the 25th of June; also to elect a new
executive committee for the ensuing
two years. A primary was called for
Wednesday, Aug 6, 1890, to nom
inate candidates for county officers,
members of the General Assembly
and congressional delegates.
The following resolutions were
unanimously adopted:
Resolved, That it is the sense of
this meeting that all Democrats are
requested to turn out and voice tiieir
sentiments in the mass meeting and
the prirnuries held in this county
during the ycur.
Resolved further, that we extend
to the voters of other parties, who
desire to abandon their party affilia
tion. and join in the great buttlo for
true democracy, the right to come in
to our primaries by taking an oath
to support the nominee of said prima
ries.
Resolved, That we indorse the
present administration, believing that
Grover Cleveland and the Democratic
party have stood upon tho platform
adopted by said party in 1892, and
have consistently carried out the
principles enunciated therein that the
parity of the metals in our currency
shall be maintained.
Resolved further, that we believe
and maintain that these principles
should he the doctrine of our party
until a new platform is formulated
and adopted by our next National
tounty, subject to the Democratic
primary. I want the office, first, be
cause I am able to discharge its
duties, and, second, because I need its
help. To the friends who so nobly
stood by me in times past, and also
to those who have given kind words
of encouragement in the present
race, I return thanks, and earnestly
solicit the votes of all the people. 1
shall remove to the county site if
elected, in order to faithfully and
without trouble serve those who have
business in the office. Respectfully,
W. Henry Griffin.
