The Tifton Institute Closes Its
Doors for the Summer.

Last Friday .evening were held the
commencement exercises of the Tif
ton Institute at the fair building.
Prof. .1. II. O’Quin and his assist
ants had arranged a lengthy and va
ried progum which was carried out
in full by the students.
Beginning at 8 o’clock the recita
tions, music, plays uud drills enter
tained the lurge audience till near
the midnight hour when the children
dispersed to their several homes, filled
with delight at the thought of. the
summer’s vacation and flushed with 1
pardonable pride with the conscious- j
ness of work well done.
The Institute, under the manage-1
ment of Prof. O’Quin has just com-;

of Tifton, and Miss Edna McQueen,
of Nashville, Tennessee was solemn

at the Methodist church. Rev. C. E.
Crawley' performed the ceremony
that united the lives of the young
people, the only other witness being
Justice E. E. Youmans. It was the
intention of the young couple to keep
the marriage a secret till Miss
McQueen had returned to her home;
bnt it waH discovered Friday evening
last, and the happy couple are re
ceiving the congratulations of n host
of friends.
The bride is the daughter of the
Rev. Wm. McQueen, of West Nash
ville, Tenn., and is a young lady of
many noble traits of mind and heart.
For the past year she has been one
of the assistant principals of the Tif
ton Institute.
Dr. Peterson is a leading physician
of South Georgia and is well known
and admired by a large circle of
friends.
