TIFTON’S ARBOR DAY.
Klaewhere the Gazette prints the
KnggcRtion of si prominent minister
that Tifton net apart an Arboi Day,
to he spent in beautifying our city.
A better and more timely suggestion
was never made.
Nothing so adds to the attractive
ness of a town as beautiful treos^-
nothing adds more to the comfort of
the inhabitants, or the value of city
property. Ho who plants a tree leaves
a legacy to posterity. Like emerald
gems in nature’s crown, they beauti
fy, even as the jewel adorns its set
ting. Their cool shadows invito the
breeze, repel the dust, and relieve the
baro vista of hot sidewalks. Tifton
has hut few—sho cannot have too
many. A better legacy could not bo
left to our successors.
Lei the day bo fittingly observed
by our citizens, and when trees aro
Panted through private industry,
lot them become tbo wards of the
city. And now is the best time wo
will get to begin work on a city park.
The large school house at Sumner
caught (ire from a defective Hue
Tuesday morning about 0 o’clock and
was burned to the ground. It was
erected about twelve years r go and
cost about $3,600, being the pioneer
high school‘bdilding of the county.
At the laying of the corner-stone,
eloquent addresses were delivered by
Cap. Jos. S. Paris, lion. Henry G*
Turner, nnd others, and a sumptuous
barbecue served by the oitlzens of
the town.

The Worth Telephone Company
has completed its line from Tifton to
Albany and connection with the local
telephone exchange was made on
Friday afternoon. This places Al
bany in direct communication not
only with Tifton, but with Sumner,
Poulan, Sylvester, Willingham, Ty
Ty, Acree and other points, and as
the wire runs into the switchboard at
the local exchange, our busineMg men
can readily converse with parties at
any of these places without leaving
their offices.
The Worth Telephone Company

DOCTORS AGREE
Recent investigation! by the authorities of several States have at
tracted attention to proprietary medicines, and there is a marked dispo
sition to draw a sharp line of distinction between mysterious nostrums
and worthy articles of scientific compound and known character.
••Many proprietary medicines,” says a leading
physician, ••are the best possible prescriptions for the
diseases which they are made to cure. It is certainly (
only reasonable to expert that chemists of ^
world-wide reputation and unlimited re- (
sources ought to make compounds with excep
tional skill, and it is manifestly to thdlr In
terest to have their ingredients fresh and
pure. ‘Take, for example, Llppraan’a great
remedy, popularly known as P. P. P.
The formula Is on every bottle. Every
physician knows that the Ingredients are 1
the best possible remedies for purify
ing the Mood, and the compound ia
a scientific one, which Increases the
efficiency of the whole. I Some
times prescribe special mixtures
for Blood Poisoning, Scrofulous
Affections," Catarrh, Ecxema and other
(arlsli
complaints arising from Impure and weak c
blood, but I always feel safest in prescribing P. P. P., especially where
I am not personalty acquainted with the druggist. In prescribing
P. P. P. (Uppman’sGreat Remedy), I know I am taking no chances.”
When doctors feel such confidence in a standard remedy, it is
no wonder that the general public Insist upon having it.
P.P.P. Is sold by all druggists.‘ $1 a bottle; six bottles. $5. •
