Albany, Ga., Feb. 16.—Nearly tho whole northern portion of Worth county his been swept by flames dur ing the past twenty-fonr hours, and at last reports their progress had not been checked. The county around O&kfield and Warwick has Buffered losses that will amount to thousands of dollars. The woods near Warwick caught fire late Tuesday afternoon, and the flames rapidly spread in every direc tion. There has been no rain in that country for many weeks and the woods are as dry as tinder. Eye witnesses say that flames leap ed high enough in places to burn tho green tops of tail pines. The citixens of Warwick fought ail last night and this morning to save their town and called iu assistance from the country. Many buildings have been destroy ed, dwellings, gins, and barns stored with guano, cotton, corn, etc. A number of cows, sheep and hogs have been caught by the flames and burned to death, while mile after mile of fencing has been destroyed. A large quantity of wood belong ing to the Alabama and Northern Hoad was burned and the loss to owners of timbered lands cannot be estimated. Whole sections of timber have been completely destroyed. The fire has swebt over an area many miles in extent and was still burning at 6 o'clock this afternoon. The loss so far on burned build ings alone will amount to several thousand dollars. - kMdOtttr repper Hjc (original l*otillng)$l pr.qt. •r aioauit Vernon Ry# (original bottling)yl |»er qt.
