night last From the direlydignified
president and socially select secretary
down to the delinquent delegate from
Denver, the galaxy of garrulous girls
were got up in catchy costumes that,
for the occasion, in stage language,
were amply a plenty.
The affair was conceived by
ganiuMnd executed with eclat Their
appeals- to the hard-hearted mas
culines were heartrending, and had it
notbeeo for the advent of a dignified
inventress with rejuvenating machine,
the hearts of the bachelor audience
might have melted, and the matrimo
nial epidemic of last summer would
bate broken out afresh, magnified
tenfold.
Seriously speaking, too much can
not be said in praise of some of the
origtoal and laughable costumes, and
of the unique manner in which the
affair was conducted. The exercises
were varied by a song in paraphrase
by Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Banks,
and one by Mist Harriet Goodman,
and excellent recitatious by Miss
Eloise Pound and Miss Belie Wil
lingham. The opening song, by the
entire convention, was a tear wringer.
The finale, when the young man,who
bad been making a nuisance of him
self all the evening, slipped into the
rejuvenator and the theory of Darwin
was presented in inverse ratio, was
one of the best of the evening.
A gallaxy of charming maidens
plaited the May-pole, and with it the
hearta of half the young beaux in
the house became hopelessly inter
mingled.
The snug sum of 154 was rea'ized
for the Episcopal obapel.

It has been definitely decided by
the management of the Plant Stearn-
■hip Line to operate sn excursion
from Port Tampa to the Island of
Jamacia during the latter part of
February.
Jamacia is the most tropical, pict
uresque and largest of the British
West India Islands.
The sea voyage, which consumes
about sixty hours in each direction,
is always enjoyable because of the
uniform smoothness of the sea in this
Istitude.
The Plant Line’s Jamacia excur
sions during past seasons have formed
one of the most delightful trips for
the Americsu tourist and has become
very popular. The one to be run in
February will be especially so. For

Governor, It looka now like the
most of us boys are for Col. Candler;
in fact, they all seem to be for Can
dler, except the Ashburn man and a
man named Jackson, in my traveles.
Of coarse, it can’t be so all over
the state.
There is fixing to be a large crop
of ns boys feeling round for legisla
tive and county officers. I have *-en
several that have solicited my vote
and support, and several more have
solicited me to run. Wo will see

The fire did a great deal of damage
to the farmers last week, in the caua-
ties of Irwin, Berrien, Dooly, Wilcox,
and several othars in South Georgia.
Before the fire, the farmers were in
good shape with their work". There
has been more land cleared and pot
in cultivation last winter and fall
than hns been in three years before.
Of the seven counties of Irwin,
Coffee, Berrien, Colquitt, Worth,
Dooly and Willcox there is but one
that lias two representatives. Now,
after the next census is taken two
years from now, there will be five
with two representatives, and one,
Dooly, with three. There is no one
that can comprehend the solid im
provementj that has been msde in
the seven above named counties, ex
cept they have been traveling all over
them for the last seven years.
The improvements are the opening
up of fine farms, building good
houses, and out buildings. If any of
the readers want to see how things
are improving, jnst let him travel
over the country. One of the very
best is that live and get-there man,
Green Nelson, near Ty Ty.
Will say more later about politics
and candidates. I be will off in a few
daya to Dooly, Wilcox and Coffee
saying a good word for Phil Cook
and whooping up the Tifton Mid
summer Fair. W. W. Hill.

remedy, where a thorough course of med-
Ictno had failed with me. I recommend
it to my patients every time for collo and
diarrhoea.’' Many other progressive
physicians recommend and use this rem
edy, because It always enret and cures
quickly. Get a bottle and yon will have
