A Farewell Eotertsloaent.
The Ladies Missionary Society, of
the Baptist chnroh gave a reception,
in honor of Mr. F. M. Maugham,
Monday night, at Bowen’s Hall.
. Suitable music, short eulogies, es
says, and recitations, with refresh
ments, made the eyening very pleas
ant, for all who bad the good for
tune to be present. Mr. Maugham
should feel highly honored, os few
young men haTe been given such a
send off. Mrs. II. H. Tift’s essay and
eulogy of him was very expressive,
and concbed in beautiful language,
presenting Mr. Mangbam with a
pretty gold pen, in behalf of the
Society. •
The programme was well planned
and executed. Mr. Maugham has
led an examplary. life, and has made
hosts of friends here during the five

has been a trusted employee of the
l’lant System and now has leare of,
absence to attend college in New
York, where it is probable that he
will prepare himself for missionary
»ork in foreign fields. Ho highly
deserves the honor done him by the

Few men in this country are better or
more favorable known to the drug and
medicine trade than E. J. Schall, buyer
in the proprietary medicine department
of Meyers Bros.' Drug Co., St. Louis.
He says: “My boy came home from
school with his hand badly lacerated and
bleeding, and suffering great pain. I
dressed the wound and applied Chamber
lain’s Pain Balm, freely; all pain ceased,
and in a remarkable abort time, it healed
without leaving a scar. For wounds,
sprains, swellings and rheumatism, I
know of no medicine or prescription
equal to it. I consider It a household
necessity.” Sold by Smith's Drug Store.
