cation for incorporation of the Citi
zens’ Live Stock Insurance Co., of
Georgia, a mutual concern, with
headquarters at Adel.
Mr. B. P. Holtzendorf, who haB
been serving the Douglas, Augusta
and Gulf railway as general passen
ger agent, has been appointed su
perintendent of the Valdosta South
ern. He will move from Douglas to
Valdosta on June 1st. — Herald.
The Macon Telegraph has been
asked which is the ablest one of the
candidates? The Telegraph replies
with caution: “Jim Smith is the
ablest farmer in the lot; Russell is
the ablest judge; Estill is the ablest
publisher; Howell is the ablest edi
tor, and Hoke Smith the ablest dam
age suit lawyer.”

Moultrie, Go., Juno 1.—The large
fly wheel at Mill No. 2 of the Union
Pinopolis saw mills, located at King-
wood, exploded today while going
at a high rate of speed and did con
siderable damage to the engine room
and other machinery. The engineer,
W. A. Vaughn, was seriously injured
and his left arm had to be amputat
ed. The mill will be shut down for
a number of days while repairs are
being made.

On Tuesday Gaskin & Summerlin
shipped from this place a car load of
syrup, about 5,000 gallons. This is
the second car load shipped from
here during the seasop.—Willacoo-

In the death of Mayor Chas. C.
Cutts Friday night, Cordele and
south Georgia sustained the loss of
a good and able man; one whose
public spirit had done much to de
velop this section flf the Btate.
The marriage of Miss Eflie Tyson
to Mr. Rufus Beck occurred Wed
nesday afternoon at Norman Park.
The ceremony was performed at 4
o’clock in the afternoon at the homo
of the bride’s parents, near the Park,
by Dr. F. W. Tyler, with just a few
friends present.—Moultrie Observer.
Parties in Moultrie entered charges
of lunacy against T. P. Wilson and
wife Saturday, and they were
brought before Judge Parker, who
summoned a jury to pass upon the
charge. Mr. Wilson has been los
ing his mind gradually sometime,
and today bis wife became insane.
They are about forty years old and
have three small children.—Ob

The Epworth Leaguers of South
Georgia will hold their fifth annual
conference at Thomasville June 14th
to 17th. An attendance of more
than two hundred is expected.
Prominent speakers and Christian
workers have signified their inten
tion of being present. A special feat
ure this year will be an immense ex
hibit by charts of work being done
in Southern Methodism.

The next regular examination for
school teachers’ license for Colquitt
county will be held in the public
school building at Norman Park on
Thursday and Friday, June 29th
and 30th, beginning at 10 a. m.
Mr. John Smith aud little daugh
ter, Lettie, left for Hot Springs,
Ark., Wednesday afternoon. Lettie
has been a sufferer with chronic
rheumatism since a small baby, and
her father has done everything con
ceivable for her relief aud cure, and,
as a last resort, Mr. Smith has de
cided to try Hot Springs.
While sawing staves at Mr. A. T
Barber’s mill, Mr. Jas. Cavenaugh
happened to a serious accident Mon
day. The saw snatched tbo stave
from his hands and threw it back at
him with great force, striking him
in tbo upper part of the abdomen,
and, glanciog downward, it ripped
up the skin on a place about three
inches wide and six inches long.—

Tuesday Mr. B. B. Gray closed a
deal with Mr. J. J. Vickers for the
business lot on tho corner west of
Mr. Vickers’ store. The lot is 31x70
feet. The price paid was $450. Mr.
Gray bought the lot for tho Mason
ic lodge, and a nice, two-story brick
or artificial stone structure will bo
built on it at onco. Tho lower floor
will be rented for a store-room,
while tho upper floor will be used by
Masons for their permanent ball. It
is the plan of the lodge to fit up the
hall in a beautiful manner and make
it one of the prettiest in the coun

Ezra Johnson Dead.
The baby boy of L. F. and Mamie
Johnson died May 27th, from the ef
fects of measels, Little Ezra was born
Oct. lo, 1903, and was a bright child
and the idol of the family. But he was
too good to -tay in this world of sin
aud trouble, and the Lord sent His
angels and took him away to himself,
where he is free from pain and sick*
ness aud sorrow, and is now basking in
the sunshine of that glorious spirit
world of love, joy and peace.
Dear parents, sorrow not for him: he
is in the hands of God, to whose will
we should all humbly bow. May the
Great Comforter comfort your hearts.
