from Oak Ridge, Brighton, Vance-
ville and Northwest Tift, which ar
rived too late for insertion this week,

Mrs. Nichols Peterson, of Tifton,
Who is the vice-president of the Club
Extension Work for South Georgia,
went to Douglas yesterday to address
the Civic League lately organized
there. Mrs. Peterson wrote her
friend. Mrs. Lon Dickey, that she
would probably stop over on Her re
turn and give the ladies of Fitzgerald

Quite an interesting case was
heard' before Judge Eve last week
in the court room, it being a
habeas-corpus, brought by Mrs.
Rachel Wilson against Mr. Mitchel
McClelland for her daughter, Effie.
The young girl had been employed
by Mr. McClelland with her mother’s
consent and was t» return next week
to. spend several days, but left home
before her mother got ready for her
to go, and the habeas-corpus pro
ceedings resulted. Judge Eve found
that there was no warrant for hold-
■ Mrs. H. F. Newton went over to
Tifton this morning, to be the guest
of her daughter, Mrs, W. S. Newton.

Mr. and Mrs. W. 0. Tift, of Tif-
ton, are' spending a day or so in this
city with the family of Mr. 0. M.

three aliases, was arrested Tuesday
night by the Tifton officers. He was
^wanted in Ashburn for stealing a
lot of commissary checks.^ The Ash
burn officers were notified: and De
puty Johnson came after him.
Mrs. Nichols Peterson, of Tifton,
representative of the South Georgia
Federation of Women’s Clubs, spent
last night in the city, guest of Mrs.
Lon Dickey. Mrs. Peterson was
very much pleased with Fitzgerald,
and will return next week, whei an
effort will be made to organize the
ladies into a club for the improve
ment of the city. Mrs. Peterson left
this,morning for Douglas, where she
will address the Civic Clubs. She is
stopping with Mrs. Tbm Williams,

case for disorderly conduct was dis
missed. Sandy claimed that the pic
