BOY ACCIDENTALLY SHOT.
Moultrie, Oct. 9.i Paul, the 6-
year-old son of C. W. Fussell, was
accidentally shot and killed thiB af- \

J. T. Brownlee, who was dangerous
ly cut in an altercation with J. H.
Cook Saturday, were playing with
him at the time and one of them, it
is alleged, held the shotgun when it
was discharged.
The entire load struck the ilttle
boy in his neck, tearing a hole
through it an inch in diameter. A

The Bremen has been a source of
interest, speculation, and mystery

It was reported in August that the
Bremen would dock at New London,
instead of Baltimore.
On Aug. 16 the Cunard liner
Alaunia docked at New York, and
some of her passengers frankly as
serted their confidence that the Bre
men would never reach this coun
try. They based this on the fact that
they had seen a German undersea
craft towed into port by British war.
ships just before the Alaunia had
sailed for this country.
On Aug. 24 an Exchange Tele
graph dispatch from Copenhagen
credited Alfred Lohmann, head
the Ocean Navigation Company
Bremen, with the statement that he
had received a message from the
Bremen and that it would arrive in
America in a few days. On Aug. 25
an officer of the British merchant
marine, who arrived in New York on
the Baltic was quoted as saying the
Bremen had been captured by the
British and thirty-three of her crew
of thirty-five made prisoners. Ac
cording to this account the Bremen
was captured in the Straits of Dover
in a steel net on Aug. 2. The Brit
ish Government, he said, had main
tained silence regarding the capture
as another German submarine, the
Amerika, was said to be on its way
here, and it was hoped to capture
her also.
Only a few days ago Germany
was thrilled by the announcement
there that the Bremen had arrived
at New London. Instead a life buov
labeled Bremen was nicked up off

Rev. Arthur Moore Reports Success
at Roanoke, Virginia.
The following report of a series of
revival meetings held at Roanoke,
Va., by Rev. Arthur Moore, which
appeared in the last issue of the
Wesleyan Christian Advocate, will
be of interest to the people here be
cause of the fact that Mr. Moore
was born and raised in that part of
Berrien county that is now Tift
county and was for some time em
ployed by the A. C. L. at Brookfield.
“Arthur,” as he is familiarly
known throughout this section, en
tered the ministry as an evangelist
several years ago. He is a thorough
ly consecrated Christian and his
ork has met with splendid success.
His letter to the Advocate fol
lows:
'We are now in what is by far
the greatest meeting of my life. We
tegan here September 17th with a
nion meting of two small churches
in a large tent. From this first ser
vice we had great crowds and the at
tention of the city. The result was
that at the end of the first week we
were invited to assist all the Meth
odist churches of the entire city in a
great union campaign. We are now-
in the great city auditorium built of
steel and brick that comfortably
seats 5,000 with twelve churches
back of the meeting. The great
throngs are packing the immense
auditorium day after day, and we
have had as may a9 7,000 present at
one service.
“Charlie Tillman is directing

The Central Grocery Company re-'

the season for the Texas oats, which
they handle, has not opened.
George Baker says that his sales
have been light, but very good con

It is unusual to sell seed oats so
early, and the demand for them the
first weeks of October indicates an
enormous acreage.

NEW MONEY CHRISTMAS.
Officials Say Halves, Quarters and
Dimes Will be Out.
Washington, D. C., Oct. 6.—
Treasury officials, while declining to
name any denite day, say they be-
leve that the series of newly de
signed coins—half dollars, quarters
and dimes—would be in circulation
by Christmas. Some trouble is be.
ing experienced in getting the coins
mechanically perfect so they can be
stacked properly and so they will
fit all the various coin machines,
such as pay station telephones, which
are in use thoughout the country.
These were devised to hold the old
coins which have been in use for the
last twenty-five years.
The design of the new half dollar
bears a full length figure of Liberty,
the folds of the Stars and Stripes
flying to the breezes as a back
ground, progressing in full stride to
ward the dawn of a new day and
carrying branches of laurel and oak,
which are symbolic of civc and mil.
tary glory. The hand of the figure
is outstretched in bestowal of the
spirit of liberty. The reverse side
shows an eagle perched on a moun

a rift in the rock is a sapling of

The design of the twenty-five cent
piece is intended to typify prepared,
ness. There is a new figure of Lib
erty, full length, front view, head to
the left, stepping forward to the
gateway of the country, and on the
wall are the words 4 ‘In God We
Trust.” The left arm of Liberty is

tude of protection. The right hand

Above the head is the word “Lib
erty,” and on the step under her
feet “1916.” The reverse shows an
American eagle with wings extended.
The design of the new dime is
more simple, necessarily, because it
is smaller. The obverse shows a head
of Liberty with winged cap. The
reverse shows a bundle of rods, with
battle ax, symbolical of unity. About
this is a full foliage branch of
