OVERLAND PARTY TO TOLEDO
The Tift-Overland party left Sat
urday at noon for Toledo, Ohio,
where they will be the gueate of the
Willya-Overland Company, at their
factory for several days. The Over
land people are hosts this week to
their sales agencies all over the
United States, that they may become
better acquainted with the Overland
cars.
Those going from Tifton were: A.
C. Tift, A. F. Reams, L. C. Goring,
W. W. Jolly, T. W. Tift and B. H.
McLeod.
The sub-agencies of the Tift-Over-
land Company were represented by
the following: S. T. Tygart, Nash
ville; ’Estill Gaskins, Alapaha; W. T.
Blanton, Moultrie; I. Jd. Shiver and
salesman from Sylvester; W. L. Rog
ers, Douglas; C. L. Lott, Waycross,
and B. H. Palmer, of Cordele.
Mr. A. C. Tift will attend the au
tomobile show in Chicago before re
turning home.

:30, Judge C. W. Graves officiating.
Quite a number of relatives and
friends of the contracting parties
motored over to Ty Ty for the cere
mony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr,
and Mrs. A. Z. Payne, of Ty Ty, and
the groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
George Cravey, of near Chula where
the young people will make their
home.

Delegates, ministers and visitors to
the Wesleyan Methodist Annual Con
ference were leaving on tho differ
ent trains out of Tifton Monday
morning.
As they left, notes of praise were
on their lips of the hospitality ex
tended to them by the people of Tif
ton. Words of commendation of the
wonderful progress made in Tifton
since some of them were here be
fore, could also be heard. In fact
they leave, each one to act as an
advertising agent for Tifton.
The conference proper closed Sat
urday night. It was one of the best
in the history of the organization
The amount of money collected
during the year for missions, edu
cation and the spreading of holiness
in the home-land by the preachers,
was remarkable, considering the nu
merciat strength of the body.
Sunday there were three services
held, preceded by a prayer and testi
mony services. They were saasons
of unusual spiritual power and very
effective
The pastor of the church, Rev. H.
R. Gunby, has secured the assistance
of Evangelist L C. Douthit and will
continue servlets at least over next
Sunday.
He is a preacher of unusual abil
ity and our people ought to turn
out in large numbers to each ser
vice which will be held daily at 3
and 7 o'clock p- m. with an extra
service at 11 a. m. on Sunday.
The 3 o’clock service next Sunday
will be a special one for men and
boys only. Let them turn out to
hear him.

Mr. and Mrs. T, W. Ful wood,' who
have been the guests of Jol. C. W.
Fulwood and family for several days,
will return to their home in Ft Val
ley this afternoon. They will be ac
companied home by Miss Carrie Ful
wood, who will spend some time with

Moultrie Monday to preside at Or
dinary’s Court for Colquitt county
in place of Ordinary A. B. Buxton,
who is very ill. He returned about
2. o’clock, in time to hold his court
here.
The people of Tifton, and espec
ially the Methodist membership, are
delighted at the return of Rev. G.
W. Mathews as pastor for another
year. Our people have learned to
love and appreciate this consecrated
man during his year’s stay here, and
we want to see him carry on the
work he has so capably handled.
Mrs. W. L. Pickard, wife of the
celebrated head of Mercer, arrived

Little Miss Reba Lott celebrated
her seventh birth anniversary Friday
afternoon at the home of her grand
father, Mr. S H. Ayres, at Enigma.
About fifty guests were present,
and the afternoon was most pleasant
ly spent in enjoying games of “Good
Night," and “Winkle.” Music was
furnished with a Victrola.
A large number of presents were
received by the young hostess.
The home throughout was decor
ated in yellow, white and green, the
dining table where the luncheon of
fruit salad and cake was served wax
darkened and lighted with candles.
The color scheme was carried out in
the decorations of the dining table,
with a large birthday cake lighted
with seven candies was used as the
center piece.

HAD ANKLE BROKEN
Monday morning, tdtlle on his way
to work on his motorcycle Mr. J.
W. Stoner was run over by Mr. I. W.
Bowen’s car driven by one of Mr.
Bowen’s sons.
The car came up behind Mr. Ston
er and was about to pass him when
he tried to turn to the left to let
the car pass when the car hit him.
It knocked him off hia motorcycle
and ran over hit ankle which was
very badly broken up and the joint
dislocated.
Mr. Stoner was hurried to Dr. Ba
ker’s office where his injuries were
attended to. Dr. Baker says that the
injuries are very bad as well as
painful and that Mr. Stoner may be
crippled for life.
According to witnesses, the car
came up behind Mr. Stoner and at
tempted to pass him. When Mr. Ston
er started to turn out to allow the
car to pass he turned right in the
way of the car and it hit him. The
motorcycle was ajmost demolished
but the ear was not damaged.

MISS LONG IN SUMTER.

Miss Rowena Long, Home Eco
nomics agent for Sumter county, has
arrived in Americus to assume her
duties at the head of this depart
ment of activ'ty connected with the
public schools of the county and the
agricultural departments of the state
and federal governments.
Miss Long will make her head
quarters in Americus, having a
desk at the Chamber of Commerce
Miss Long has for the post two
years supervised tho Home Econom
ics Clubs in Tift county and her rec
ord of accomplishment in that sec
tion is such as to call forth unstint
ed praise from the county officials
and residents in general.
The work of the Home Economics
Clubs is gaining gratifying headway
and Miss Long should be accorded
the heartiest co-operation by the cit
izens of Sumter county in order that
the best results may be attained.
BRIDGING THE ALTAMAHA
Dr. J. Harry Goodman and wife,
of Baxley, were the guests of rela
tives in Tifton Monday, returning
from Thomaavillo, where they at
tended the Method!-t conference.
They motored throu„U the country,
spending a portion of Saturday with
Mrs. Goodman’s brother at Cairo.
Dr. Goodman is very enthusiastic
over the proposition to bridge the Al-
tamaha, which will mean so much
for the development of that section
of South Georgia.
