WEDNESDAY’S WAR SITUATION.
Apparently the Austrians on the front from Gorizia to
the sea are still the aggressors against the Italians but accord
ing to the Rome war office their attacks all have’ been repulsed
except south of Jamiano. where assaults compelled the Italians
to give way.
The British and Germans near Wytschaetfe in Belgium are
si ill engaged in a violent artillery duel, which probably is the
forerunner of a great infantry action at an ehrly date. Already
according to Berlin, the British, after having hurled great
quantities of steel against the German defenses advanced lo
aee the result of their work but were forced by German flfre to
return to their positions.

THURSDAY’S WAR SITUATION.
Again there has been lively fighting in the air between
the British and Germans, in which eight}- enemy machines
were shot down and eight others driven down out of control.
The British themselves lost seven ^machines.
In the Austro Italian theater the Italians have been forced
to give grojmd befbre violent attacks by the Austrians south of
Jamiano. which lies a short distance from the head of the Gulf
of Trieste. The Vienna War Office claims the capture of 271
Italian officers and 6.500 men in this fighting. All along the
front the Austrians are heavily shelling Italian positions with
the Italians replying vigorously.
From the North ea to the Franco-Belgian frontier the
entente allies and the Germans are engaged in artillery duels.
They are especially violent around Dixmude a.nd. between
Steenstraete and Het Sas. and in the region of Wytschaete,
soutlr of Ypres. On the north bank of the Scarpe river to the
east of Arras, the British have captured from ^he Germans
trenches over a front of about a mile and made 162 prisoners.
The Germans are heavily attacking the French troops in
the region between Soissons and Rheims. but except on one
sector they hhve everywhere been repulsed with heavy casual
ties. North of the Chemin Des Dames some trench elements
were captured by the Germans.
Washington. June 1.—Three American sailing ships have
been torpedoed by submarines with a loss of one life, accord-
ii g to the announcement of the Navy Department today.
All of the vessels were sunk in European waters. They
were the Dirigo. Francis M. and Barbara. John Ray. first mate

There are two ways- of selling used cars—one is just
to get rid of them—and the other is to sell them like new
cars are sold, always making sure to-^ build up a business
of satisfied customers.
We Sell On This Latter Basis
Every used car, we sell is put into first-class shape
and we tell the prospective buyer the truth about the car.
Our used car buyers send us their friends and come
again themselves when they want another car - and there
is a reason for it. -
We have some very good second-hand cars at bar
