Paris, Aug. 8.—Another winter of war ia predicted to
day by Frmch miltary experts. Ruaaia is discounted as a fac
tor, but great hopes are pinned to the part to be played by
the United States within the next ten months.
The Teutonic powers are growing weaker, both from
military sad economic standpoints.
A gigantic offensive is expected to be launched by the
Allies, induding the United States, next spring which will
make preceding ones look like piginiee.
The Germans are working desperately for a military de
rision on the Western front before cold weather sets in, but
the preseat indications are that their hopes will be shattered.
Their attacks are growing weaker as their reserves dwindle
and the gins and munitions of thetnteotes grow stronger.
In the Lombaertzyde sector the British captured several
German prisoners and a gun in a raid.
Bern^Aug. 8.—By Agence Radio and International Newa
Service.—Two train load* of American citiaena, all in a piti
ful condition, arrived in Switzerland today from Jerusalem
and other districts of Turkey, after an eight weeks' journey,
ith scaat food.
Most of the refugees are old naen, women and children.
They reput that the food conditions in Turkey are terri
