Pfedaar Citizen Passed Away Wed-

A (teed citizen, an honest man.
and a pioneer of Wiregrass' Geor-
cia passed away with the death of
Mr. Thomas McMillan Wednesday
afternoon-at 5:30. at his home five
miles east of Tifton.
Mr. McMillan had been in bad
health for four years but had only
been confined to his bed for about
two weeks before his death.
The funeral services were held
Thursday afternoon et 4 o'clock
conducted by Elder Jamee Gibbs,
and all that was mortal of the hus
band. father and friend was laid to
rest in the family cemetery.
Mr. McMillan was in the 71st
year of his ace and was bom In Ir
win county, movinc to the section
which is now Tift in early manhood.
Like his father before him. he was
a stock-raiser and farmer, and in
h'is prime a man of considerable
]-wealth and influence.
In early .manhood he married a
dauchter of th e late Jehu Fletcher,
who died several years aeo. To this
marriaec six children, five dauch
ters and a son w$rc bom. all but
one of whem survive him. Some
time after her death. hA married
Miss Ellen "dumber, who lives to
mourn his loss.
The survivinc children are: Mrs.
Ellie Danieis. Mrs. Mary Hutchin-
rs. Rebecca Hutchinson and
Mrs. Jimmie Gibbs, of Tift cqunty.
and J. W McMillan of McRae. An
other dauchter. Mrs. Sarah Hender
son died a few years ago.
Mr. McMillan had never connect
ed himself with any church but a
ways affiliated with *he Primitii
Baptists. He was a man held i

Clements at Irwinville. which
conducted at her home Wednesday
afternoon at o’clock.

mother was laid to rest in a vault
in the cemetery beside her husband.
