Copenhagen, Sept. 6.—Northeast of Riga the Germans
b*ve advanced thirty-five miles from the Divina river. Kre-
mon . cm the mam highway leading to Petrograd, has been cap
tured according to Berlin advices, the Germans driving toward
Reval, which must be taken before a direct attack against Pe-
trograd can be made.
Anxiety for the Russian fleet is increasing. .
. Berlin (Via London), Sept. 6—The capture of 120 Rus
sian officers, 7,500 men, 180 big guns,. 300 machine guns, sev
eral armored cars and a large quantity of war material was an
nounced from the Riga front today.
The War Office declared that along the Divina river the
German forces have advanced to friederichstadt.
a London, Sept. 6.—Italy resumed her offensive cm the St.

Dispatches received here from Rome detail the greatest (
concentration of men, artillery and aeroplanes on the Italian
side that this front has ever seen.
The official statements mentioned that 261 aeroplanes are ,
participating in the fighting. While British and French field ar
tillery are aiding in the land fighting, on the Trieste gulf Brit
ish and French warships are co-oper.-tjng with Italian monitors
in shelling Pola, the great Austrian Adriatic naval base.
Estimates from Rome today show that 37,000 Austrian
prisoners have been captured since August 19th.
Rome, Sept. 6.—The attempts of the Austrian forces to
launch a counter offensive on the Carso Plateau have entire
ly failed. Gorman troops participAted in the attacks.
London, Sept. 6.—General Haig reports local battles to the
east of Flouraix, to the southeast of St. Julien, and a few Ger
man prisoners captured.
German aircraft bombarded three hospitals Tuesday ev
ening.
London, Sept. 6.—Intense aerial activity and numerous
successful British air raids were reported by General Haig to
day.
"Toesday British aeroplanes dropped bombs on the Bil
lets railway station lines, ammunition dumps, training school
and other German works, in a dozen places," says Genera]

London, Sept. 6.—Only minor fighting was reported from
the British front during the past twenty-four hours, according
to the announcement of the War Office.
