Jeff M. Parker enliited from Tifton in the Marines April
4th, 1917. ’We is a member oK*he 15th Company, Fifth Regi
ment, and so far at known was the first of Uncle Sam’s fighting
men from Georgia to land in France. He was a member of a
company of picked men sent with the first Expeditionary Force
after the declaration of war, landing in France last June.
There was a German attack on the Arfierican line* at Apre-
mont forest in the Toul sector April 13th, in which there was
some sharp fighting. 'It *may be that this is where Jeff was
wounded, although as the Americans were also helping the
British and the great drive was reaching its climax about that
time, the injuries may have been received at any point along
the front. ^
