y TEEi eeiks hr my prayer. How I lay mv down to sleep,, Grant the Lord my gun to keep; And may no other soldier take My shoes or shirt before I wake. Lord, please guard me in my slumber, And keep this cot up on its lumber; And may no pegs or guy ropes break, To let down the tent before I wake. Keep me safely in Your sight, And grant me no fire drill sounds to night And in tbe morning let me wake, Breathing scents of sirloin steak. Relieve me from all work and drills, And when I'm sick don't feed me pills; And should I break this arm of mine, Don't dope it up with iodine. to a snow-white feather bed Is where I long to lay my head: Far away from all camp ncenes, And the smell of half-baked beans. Take me back into the land, Where I can walk without a band, And where no shrill bugle blows, And where the women wash my clothes. Lord, Thou knowest all my woes, Feed me In my civilian clothes; Tske me back, ,1 promise then, Never to enlist again. —Pvt. W. T. Spier, of 160th Trans portation Corps. Mrs. I. C.
