Clayton, of Chula, Route 1, who was in Tifton on business Friday, says that crop gathering in his section is all over except potato digging and cane grinding. The sum of $501 wiU be forwarded at once as Tift county's quota for the Red Cross Wer Fund, and foe sum of $303.25 will be forwarded for . the Roll Call Drive. i, J, Mrs. Fleetwood desires to thank one and all for the subscriptions given, and once more it has been demonstrated that the good citizens of Tift county may be counted on to always do their part. The Red Cross War Fund drive is now on, but instead of conducting a drive in Tift, the county’s quota was paid out of the funds on hand, thus saving the people the annoyance of another drive at this time. TRAIN LOAD OF CHINESE From the Valdosta Times: A train load of Chinese passed through Valdosta yesterday on their way from the western part of the United States to Cuba. They were carried in coaches of the Southern Pacific and it is under stood that they were going to Cuba to work in the sugar plantations there. There were about ten coaches on train, which meant that there were or six hundred of the Celestials. See their ad elsewhere for details. The Georgia Court of Appeals has handed dowq a decision reversing the City Court of Tifton in the case of Peoples vs. Pope. This was the esse in which J. E. Peeples sued John Pope for $200 commission on a real estate transaction and obtained a verdict for that amount. Mr. Pope's attorney car ried the case up and secured a reversal. It G.
