Ten Days Beginning JU
MEBRELLI
Of Two Coni
T he J. C. BASS Stock and the MERRELL BROS, original stock consolidated and thrown on the market for
ten days, beginning Thursday, July 2nd, ending July 12th. To begin with we had on hand Nineteen
Thousand Dollars worth of new, bright, clean merchandise, and on June 15th we bought the entire stock of
J. C. BASS & CO., which amounted to something like Twenty-three Thousand Dollars. Now the two Stocks
will total over Eorty Thousand Dollars. Our entire force has worked night and day for 15 days trying to
get this stock in the house and get it arranged so we could handle it, but find it will be impossible without
closing our doors. We therefore will close next Saturday night and will remain closed till
Thursday Morning, July 2, at 8:30.
While closed we will remodel the store, build new shelving, arrange bargain counters,
tag and mark down these two enormous stocks, and on Thursday, July 2nd, we will open
the most wonderful bargain sale ever known of in the history of selling goods. Think of
the opportunity of having choice of a stock of merchandise representing a great per cent
of a million dollars. You don’t have this chance every day. It will pay you to lay down
everything and go one hundred miles to visit this sale which will continue only ten days.
The most wonderful Bargain Sale ever known of in
the history of selling goods.
While this trade with J. C. Bass & Co., was a confidential deal, at the same time they agree for
us to say in an open letter to the trade that we bought the entire stock at about one-third of its real
value. We could never have made a trade like this had it not been that the firm was forced to retire
from the Dry Goods business on account of the building being torn dow n. Now we bought this
stock at a low figure, the most of which is new goods, while some is not. The goods which were
not up to standard we will sell as off goods, and at a very low price, probably 25 cents on the dollar.
The bulk of these two stocks, however, consists of new, bright, clean merchandise and will go in this
sale at about 69 cents on the dollar. So you see we mean to make room for the balance of the Bass
stock as well as well as our regular fall line which will begin to pour in sometime in the early fall.
You will hear most merchants say, “Well, the dull season is on and might as well give up till fall
trade sets up. We, as live wires, expect to make July and August the most successful months in
the year. Why shouldn t we? We have the goods at one-third their value and all we want is the
money out of them. Altogether, we will be ready on Thursday morning, July 2nd, at 8:30 with a
sale which we confidentially believe will stir Carrollton and the trading territory in a manner hither
to unknown. This sale will not only comprise the newest and most desirable merchandise for sum
mer use, but will tempt you to lay aside for another day. If possible read every line of this ad.
