CARROLLTON, CARROLL COUNTY, GEORGIA, THURSDAY, OCT. 28,1909
Why a
NATIONAL BANK
is Safe
The U, S. Government keeps a watchful but
friendly eye on all National Banks.
It requires each National Bank to make a sworn
statement of its condition, five times a year, and to
publish such reports ii the local newspaper.
It requires the Board of Directors to perform its
duties, and to have a knowledge of the manner in which
the business is being conducted.

KNOX
HATS
are not proven best because they have been offered
for sale to three generations of Americans, but
rather by the fact that three gener-
t*vrf ations of Americans have continued
to demand them as the highest
type of style and durability. >
Young men who appreciate style will be interested
in KNOX HATS which possess a distinctive style
character obtainable in no other hats this entire country
produces. They combine all the individuality which
makes them pre eminently the ideal hats for young
men. Come in and see yourself with a Knox Hat on.

the attempted palming off on

they’re real relics which be

New Post Office Fixtures.
Under the terms of the new
lease of the building now oecu-
p ed by postotlice new fixtures
are being installed that are more
in kepping with the ever increas
ing volume of business.
An annex has been pro
vided tor the use of the carriers
which will atlord them ample
room, something they have not
been used to under the old ar
rangement.
The fixtures, while they are
not possibly up to the minute,
are far superior to the old, and
will afford much more conven
ience both to the public and the
officials. We congratulate Post
master Smith upon the efficient
service he is giving the public
and with the new equipment we
are sure, he will, it possib'e,
make the service better.

W. A. Eady Dead.
The many friends over the
county will be pained to learn of
the death ot Mr. W. A. Eady,
who lived near Shiloh.
Last Thursday he rode away j
from home horseback, and was j
not seen again until found in an
unconcious condition Friday at-!
! ternoon near the roadside in the I
community ot Jake. He was
carried home,but never regained
consciousness up to the time of
his death, which occurred Sum
day morning.
The circumstances surround
ing Mr. Eady*s death are a com
plete mystery. It is generally
believed that he was thrown
trom his mount, his horse being
very high spirited, and sustained
the injury which resulted in his
death.
