BURGLARS BUSY:
There are hundreds of robberies every day of
the year about which we hear nothing, but through
which people who are careless about money lose it.
That person who keeps his or her money in a
bank has but little fear from the holdup man or
the house-breaker. It i.is the man who carries
money on his person that usually gets “touched.’’
Your money, if deposited with this bank, will be
absolutely saef, •

Hon. J. A. Aycock
Away.
In the death ol Mr. Joseph A. wa8
Aycock, which occured Wed*
nesday night, Feb’y 2d. at his
residence on Maplt St. our
town and county 'ost one of its
most prominent and useful citL
zens. No man in the community
will be missed more than he ;
and when the sad announcement
was made that he had passed to
the “Great Beyond,” a shadow
of sorrow overcast our city.
Though he died iu the prime
ot manhood, being fitty eight
years of age, yet few lives have
been more fruitful of good than
his. Quiet and unostentatious in
manner, yet no one had a
broader and truer vision of life
than he. He lived, not for self,
but for others. Ever planning
for the welfare, prosperity and
uplift of his country, the impress
of his influence lor good is wit 1
nessed by the many successful
business enterprises he set on
toot, and the educational, moral,
and religious institutions in
which he devoted his best eflorts
He was General Business
Manager of the Mandeville
Mills Co, and had the confidence
of every one from highest to
lowest, connected with the
company. His business insight
and splendid management did
much to make that corporation
the magnificent success that it
has been and is today. He was
careful and thoughtful of the ini
terest of the stock holders, but
never over looked tne welfare
and comfort ot the employees.
In all the walks of life he
numbered his friends by the
score and his praise is upon the
lips of rich and poor, high and
low. We refrain from saying
more of him just now, as his life
speaks more eloquently than
anything we can say.
He leaves a wife and seven
children to mourn his loss, and
cherish his memory, and a town,
a county and a state to suffer
because of the loss of his presi
ence and his counsels.
The funeral services will take
place at the Presbyterian church
of which he was a member, at
2 -30 o’clock Friday afternoon.
We tender to the bereaved fami
ly and relatives our sinceiest
sympathies, and trust that his
mantle of usefulness may fall
upon other shoulders, younger
and stronger and more able to
bear the burdens of a strenuous
life of benediction to others.
We will furnish you a safety deposit lock
box, fire and burglar.proof, for a very small
sum, where you can keep your papers.
We guarantee you prompt, courteous and
fair treatment in every transaction with the
bank.
