To Florida or Bust.
The Carrollton-Florida Auto
mobile crowd left Wednesday to
lour Florida and see liie irora an
auto>tropical-or bust-style. Every
man is onto bis job: R. Lee
Sharpe, (the modem) was of.
ficially elected newspaper cor.
respondent and photographer,
George Hamrick,^physician in
charge ; Wiley Creel, subserver
to auto, W S Campbell, General
Division Mgr. on Rough Roads,
whi'Je Russ Smith will be inspect
tor when it comes to “common
sense” about an auto. Charlie
Tanner goes along to furnish
funds in case of emergency—
Mrs. Tanner and children also
being with the brave party.
In talking to one of the party
about the trip he said: “For
goodness sake don’t publish auy«.
thing about our trip until we get
there—then we will let you
know,”
The signs on the automobiles
read “From Carrollton to Jack,
sonville.’’ “To Florida or Bust”
We wonder if next week’s
Free Press will contain the good
news of their reaching Florida
safely or the news “Busted.”
A good deal of comment has
been excited by the proposed
trip—and many of our people
say it can’t be done—but the
same thing was said of “Cook’’
the Artie explorer(?) when he
told his people he was going to
the Narth Pole or bust. When
our party retui ns it will be noth
ing but right that we demand
‘proof” that they did go to
Florida.
We understand a package , of
Florida post cards cams in by
quick mail to one of , the party
Tutsday but that may not mean
anything serious—only this—we
would like to see the first post
card sent to f^ir friends. We
want to see the p9st mark.
May they have a happy -jour*
ney and see Florida is our wish.
Mr. Sharpe has promised an
article for next week’s Free Press
—then we’ll know.
