The Nashville Booster Club, about one hundred and twenty strong, on their special train ar rived in our city on schedule time, Wednesday morning at 8:2o o'clock, and were met by a lar^e delegation trom the Car rollton Board ot Trade and the city at large, who gave the vis itors a most cordial welcome. The Nashville Boosters were headed by their General Direc tor Mr. Leland Hume, the gen- eral manager of the Cumberland Telephone and Telegraph Co., and as each “boosttr” stepped from the train had a rose pinned on and a welcome badge. Time was divided lor boosting speeches and our city and county ably represented on this line by Mayor H. W. Long for the.city ; Col. C. E. Roop, pres ident of the Board of Trade, spoke of our commercial inter ests ; followed by a short address by Hon. W. ]. Millican, Ordi nary. All speeches were made in a happy strain and sparkled with wit and wisdom. The party of Boosters included some ot Nashville’s most prom inent business men, and this meeting with cur business men will strengthen the ties of triend- ship between them, and the re- ception tendered the Nashville party will sustain our city’s rep utation for hospitality and enter prise, and we trust so impressed the visitors that they will carry with them pleasant memories ot their short stop here. Messrs. L. K. Smith and R. Lee Sharpe were delegated to go to Cedartown to meet the Boosters, and Mr. Sharpe says : We met the boosters at Cedar- town and we immediately intro duced ourselves as ’‘advance agents" tor the city of Carroll ton. They gave us such a hearty welcome that we soon caught. the booster spirit and both knew everybody. “At once Mr Smith phoned to Carrollton, “a fine crowd, you can’t do too much for them, see that everybody is at depot.” “We were shown through the whole train, from the cooking department to the private offices where typewriters were going, and telephones and telegraph instruments were in constant use. “Then we were escorted to the dining car, where we heard the three sweetest words in the English language, “Breakfast is ready.” “I will write about that break fast later (for I am writing this breakfast the morning alter,) suffice it to say when Mr Smith and I had a third piece ot 60c chicken thrust on our plate, Mr Smith winked at me, I knew it meant ‘we are living now.’ “Yes we did live because every body radiated, everybody ate of the good things, everybody greeted everybody, everybody told jokes, and just as everys body was getting ready to un button their vests and loosen their belt buckles, the manager called out, everybody get ready for Buchanan. “The people were at the depot and the booster band played, then Mr Ed Griflies welcomed the boosters in a rousing speech, and several speeches were made by the boosters. “This 15 minutes stop caused more happiness and good feel ing than one can imagine. Not a child was forgotten, everyone received a little present in the shape of a tiny bucket, candy or something. Mr smith and I took our hats off to these boost* ers who put so much personality iu their trip, making it peculiar, un que, distinct and unlorget- able, even to us- “Then a stop ot 15 minutes was made at Bremen, some good speeches made, and many little ones made happy. “Mr Smith telephoned to Car rollton again, let everybody close up and be at depot, we’re coming, “Just before we got to the Car rollton depot, we heard the shout of cur people, and when the boosters looked out ol the windows they shouted to each other, look at the tlowers aud girls and the crowd. “What a short hour, our peo ple hardly had time to express themselves, but we want to say the speechts made by Mayor H W Long, C E Roop, PreB. Board of Trade, and W J Mil lican, our Ordinary, were fine, and those made by the boosters made us feel good. “Every auto in the city was put in service and a 15 minute spent over the city, then we had to wave goodby to the Nashville Booster Club, the club that will live in our hearts, in the hearts of our children and our larger girls, the club that we hope some day to entertain as they deserve.” Our Business Is Banking Our effort is to attend to that business.
