On motion W. O. Perry was elected Chairman and G. A. Hogan Secretary lor the ending two years. By unanimous con sent of the committee present a Democratic Primary was|ordered for August 23rd to nominate candidates for county officers. The candidate receiving the highest vote to be declared the nominee. W. O. Perry, G. A. Hogan and John Broom were appointed as a committee to assess the candidates lor fund to defray the expense of holding said primary. All candidates are required to pay their assessments to G. A. Hogan, Secretary, by August i, otherwise their names will not appear on the ticket. Each voter is required to vote in his own precinct. Polls will open in Carrollton at 7 a. m. and close at 6 p. m. Perry, Chm. Registration Law Alright. Commenting on the registra tion law as it affects Spalding County, The * Griffin Daily Herald very adequately express es the situation in this county. The registration law is alright so lar as Spaulding county is concerned. No white man who pays his last year’s taxes by the first ot April this year has been disfranchised. And those who did not pay by April the first are not likely to make any kick on the law. Practically all the negroes have been disfranchised, less than a dozen having iqualu fied, but the real good the law Hoke Smith Club Organized A large and enthusiastic crowd ot Hoke Smith admirers of Carroll County met at the courthouse Tuesday and indors ed Hon. Hoke Smith lor Gover nor. A Hoke Smith Club was organized with Hon. M. R. Russell as chairman, and C. L, Boyd secretary. Talks were made by a num ber ot prominent farmers of the county. Committees were ap pointed to enroll members for the club in different parts of the county and instructed to report within ten days. A large membership has al ready been enrolled, and will be greatly increased in the next lew days! will accomplish will appear on j, a. Bledsoe, and C. L the eve of state election when the interested parties will, from force of it, look about the floater and trading vot* er , and the fellow who never has his taxes paid except when some candidate pays it for him on the eve of election. The men who Jhave controlled elec tions in that manner, naturally oppose the law. The men who really lavoi honest elections are alrriost to a man the lriends of the registration law. Double Header Played The Phi Alpha Tau ball ttam of Atlanta played two fast games with the Carrollton team on the local diamond July 4th, each team winning a game. The feature of the first game was the pitching of Pittman, of LaGrange, tor Carrollton.
