Mr. J. C. Hooks Killed by Fall
While making repairs on the
roof of the building occupied by
the Post Office last Friday Mr.
J. C. Hooks fell from the top of
building and sustained injuries
that resulted in his death several
hours later, about 3 o’clock
Saturday morning, without re
gaining conciousness.
Jusi how the sad accident hap
pened no one knows as there
were no eye witnesses, although
several heard him strike a plat»
form in falling.
Mr. Hooks has been connect
ed with W. S.Campbell’s plumb’
ing business tor some time.
He leaves a daughter, Miss
Stella, ot this city, and two sons,
Clyde and Omar, both of whom
live in other states and could
not be reached by wire in time
for them to attend the funeral
which was conducted from his
residence on Parsonage street
Sunday afternoon.

About thirty guests were in
vited. Forty-two and other
games were indulged in on the
spacious verandah. Punch was
served during the afternoon in a

Shell. At the close ot the
games a delightful salad course
was served by the hostesses.
Mesdames Guill and Carter
were assisted in receiving by
Mrs. Rollins, who wore laven
der satin, Mrs. Guill wore a
handsome cream embroidered
suit and Mrs. Carter was |gown (
ed in a charming pearl gray
tissie.
The house was tastefully
decorated with palms and cut
flowers.
Mrs. Rollins has won many
friends and admirers during her
visit here.
All Day Singing
K There will be an all day sing
ing at Westbrook’s Chapel on
the fifth Sunday in July. Every
body is invited to come and bring
well filled baskets.
There will ne an all day sing,
ing at Cross Plains on the third'
Sunday in July. Everybody
come and enjoy the music. We
are expecting some fine singers
to be with us ou this occasion.

The annual Garrett Reunion
