THE FARMER
\
The farmer, who borrows money at any sea
son of the year, can successfully build up and
maintain himself a liberal line of credit with this
bank, just by leaving with us the money which
he does not use during the winter months.
'Citizens flank
Stand by the Law.
Everybody ought to be exceed-
ingly glad that the Legislature
passed a law making a misde
meanor lor anyone to kill birds
in this County for the next two
years It would have been
better had they extended the
time to five instead of two years.
It - behooves everybody now,
young and old to rigidly enforce
this law. Those who have
studied the cause says that cer
tain birds exterminate the boll
weevil and that every kind ot
bird leed upon some kind of bugs
and insects that are menace to
VLgetataion. They also say that
that this boll weevil that is so de
trimental to cotton is fast forging
its way to Georgia and as they
are coming lrom the west our
County will be among the first
in Georgia to be bothered whh
them . Every precaution should
be taken to exlerinate them on
their arrival and before they get
numerous andjso it these birds
devour them it is the duty of
everyone io see that the birds
are not killed. Someone took
the time and pains to investigate
some one who did so intelligently
and his report of how much is
saved the farmer each year by
reason of the bird destroying
vegetable eating bugs and insects
is enormous. Let us all rememb
er the old school child’s rhyme
that said
“Dont kill the birds, the pretty
birds,
That sing around your door,
Soon as the chilling winter’s
past,
And Spring has come once
more”
It fishing of all kinds was stop
ped tor five years we might
have a few fish in our streams.
They are to scaice in the wate rs
in Carroll for fishermen to trap
them lor market.

Villa Rica at the Fair
The people of Villa Rica
largely attended the A. & M.
Fair at Carrollton last year, and
hb the A. and M. fair belongs to
all of us, we see no reason why
we should not have a good res
presentation there this year, and
all we have to do is to wake up
and go to work.
Bowdon and other towns in
the county will have a float in
the great parade on opening day
and whyJnot Villa Rica? Surely
our town is not going to be be.
hind the other towns in the
county. Why not have a pure
white float with placards about,
“The Gold City” and about six
of our handsome girls with a
crown of gold—one representing
the queen ot our town and the
others her attendants.
Then there’s the fair, where
all may have space by writing to
J. L. Heaton, the secretary at
Carrollton.
Now let us get busy and see
that Villa Rica is pro^perly re p
resented and has her frightful
place in the grand parade.— Villa
Rica Journal.
